DBZ remake coming spring 2009

Daizenshuu EX - Updated 02/06/2009 -- ["Refreshed" DBZ TV Airing In Japan!]

* The DBZ TV series is receiving an extensive "refresh" for Japanese television airing

* This is a celebration of the 20th anniversary of DBZ

* While based on the original animation production, it is being updated with new technology

* This includes extending the frames for formatting on an HD 16:9 display (note: not cropping the image)

* The original Japanese cast is re-grouping to re-voice the show (where available, and unfortunately not including those that have passed on, such as Hirotaka Suzuoki [Tenshinhan])

* Sound effects are being updated

* Unlike the general show, the OPs and EDs are being completely redone

* While not in the above announcement, other reports are noting that the number of episodes is being reduced from 291 to approximately 100

* This begins 05 April 2009 @ 9 am

Piccolo v Freeza (was one of the best fights as far as I'm concerned)

Remake those and the world will rejoice.

i can't decide yay/nay. i just recently watched the whole series of DBZ and DB GT for the 3rd time, all 350 episodes together, i kind of liked how long they were and as a kid i remeber, like the poster said before of how long and dreadful the power ups were, ESPECIALLY when your waiting for new episodes to come out on TV, your like omg omg omg whats going to happen next? then next thing you hear is "next time on dragon ball z" your like WTF.

but i rewatched it again, idk if it was my power to fast foward the show during boring parts, but it was more tolerable. anyways, been a huge dbz fan since i was a kid, (wish they would seriously make more episodes even though its kind of impossible, maybe an in-between saga kinda thing like the drawn out star wars shit pulls) but yeah, i'd be glad to watch this shit remastered.

I think you listed pretty much every good fight .... maybe slide in Future Trunks vs Perfect Cell, it was good initially.

Cell Games wise, Goku vs Cell ONLY, the rest was emo bullshit.

And yes, Piccolo vs Freeza was indeed awesome

I'll be looking into watching this. I only saw a few bits of DBZ on TV as a kid, but not enough to remember anything aside from Goku and Piccolo. I've heard so much about it from other people around anime topics I'd like to see things. Not sure how much I'd need/want to watch before DBZ to "get it" all, I watched about 40 episodes of the original Dragonball with kid Goku but that didn't get into a whole lot of stuff.

Well to be honest, outside of Gohan destroying the Cell Jrs and kicking Cell around a little.. the fight wasn't that exciting. The MOMENT was exciting, as in the one-handed Kamehameha and all.. but the fight itself wasn't that exciting. You knew Gohan was going to rape him.

And yes, the fillers made me hate DBZ as well as ANY show that ran passed a season or two... So shows like Bleach, Naruto, etc.. I refuse to watch them so this coming down to 100 might just make me care enough to watch this.
