Art for people that dont make 7 figures?

So Ive been looking around for some nice art for our new house, and have found several artists that I really like, however it seems any new artist only sells limited editions or originals (for insane prices). Ive been searching online for some decent quality canvas prints, but was looking to see if anyone here knew of any good locations. Ive been trying the starving artists displays near my city, and checking allposters.com(cheesy i know, but they do have some decent canvas prints). Anywhere else I should be looking?

Neo, just curious if you do not mind me asking what is your price range. I know a few local galleries where I live that sell paintings relatively cheap. These are also due to them being college kids. Some of the artwork sells between $50-$1000. I recently sold a painting to a coworker for about $200. If you want to PM me what your looking for, or what are some of your styles you prefer, I would be glad to take a look at the local college gallery this weekend and take pictures of stuff for sale.

    Thanks

Every now and again I see "starving artist" show advertisements in Orlando, where artists gather and sell of paintings. Obviously no-name-type people, but you never know what you might find.

Also, if you want pretty pictures, regardless of authenticity, you could try flea markets.

Ebay for older stuff that you know what painting/artist you want.

Or you keep you eye open in little shops or whatnot where they have them on display and for sale in the corner, or at least contact info.

I go to hobby lobby, spend $20 on a nice artsy poster, and then wait until they do half priced framing and get a nice frame for it.

Check your local art college for when their next painting exhibit (or sculpture, etc) is coming up. Typically, at the end of the school year, people will be doing their senior shows and showcasing a body of work. Most of these go in the $200-500 price range, all originals.

Its hit and miss, but sometimes you get lucky. I got this recently for $200 (spoilered for size) :

She does very nice work ^^
I really do enjoy the acrylic on wood.
Do you happen to know where I can find some of her work for sale?

She moved out to Oregon a little bit ago, but I'm pretty sure her email is on the website somewhere. I think she's an assistant curator to a few small galleries out in Portland now.

My uncle does some art, obviously he's an unknown but his work is pretty good. He calls it "Native Expressionism". Here's an example of his work... and it's not very pricey.

This is the one I own, called Fluid Motion.

    http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l1...uidMotion2.jpg
    Description:
    Liquid speed and strength.
    Athletic and agile.
    Nimble and shrewd.
Wings and hooves, feet and claws.
In that swiftness you may gain and lose.
Same ancient theme of good and bad, positive and negative...
both necessary to feel, to live to be.
Two faces in the conquering of our will
turn and twist, laugh and cry,
    reach out and shrivel in.
    Always and never.

The next two are just examples of his work. This one is called Kept.
    http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l1...vice/Kept2.jpg
Description: What things you can see...
    what things you can sense
    within that circle of sight.
    The pathway to the soul...
    the door to your world...
your inner most secrets and desires...
    your terror and your laughter.
    Things you want to see...
    things you don’t...
    things you regret.
Branded into your memory with vicious intent.
    Within a single eye,
    the world can be found...
    is kept.

    Within the Fold:
    http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l1...intheFold2.jpg
    Description: Protection.
    Mother Moon. Father Sun.
    We are all connected.
    We are all one.
    Magically bound, legends are told.
As we all are, centuries hold.
The secret to life, we all belong.
One to the next, the stories are strong.
We weave and we twine, we set and we sail.
We wax and we wane, she won’t let us fail.
Gathered together, the circle is bold
    Animals joined, within the fold.

Im going to agree with the IKEA post, i purchased a 60 inch picture for my living room was only like 65 bucks, looks awesome everyone loves it. They have a large selection already in frames and more that you can put in one of the dozens of frames they have.

Not really looking for pictures/photographs/pictures. Want to stick with canvas, copy/prints of decent art (even if from people not so famous). I like to see the texture/beauty of the painting, dont really get much out of a flat snapshot image.

Check out estate sales/auctions. Look in the local paper, craigslist, Estatesales.com, etc. With the economy as it is, there are probably more of these now then ever. I go to several looking for books, but have picked up a couple of still lifes in the past that I really like. Unfortunately, most estate sales are done by professionals now, so they usually know the value of items, but you can still get some hidden gems if you look around.

Out of all my art (not that I have a ton), the ones that people like the best are a trio of prints that I could best describe as spanish surrealist. Ironically, they are some wrapping paper I found at a gift shop in Brighton years ago that I framed myself, so are by far the cheapest art I have.

Even though this isn't what you're looking for, I got an absolutely gorgeous, huuuueg print of Dali's Hallucinogenic Toreador from Poster.com for like, 20 bucks.

I got 3 other Dali prints for cheap as well from there.

I don't know exactly what you're looking for, but there are some interesting retro-style posters at
