"The Game" explained.

People on the internet made a game, where if someone says/you read "You just lost the game", you just lost the game "The game". The end. No really, that's all it is.

probably has something to do with my teenage brother and sister visiting me and they kept writing "you lost the game" notes all over the house and fighting over it and it just irritated the fuck outta me

The actual basis of the game was explained to me long ago, it just adapted to the internet. I'm surprised there's still people not playing... if you want to know, read on:

You are now playing the game. You can never win the game, you can only lose it. Any time you think of the game, you have lost, and you must say you lost the game out loud. You cannot lose the game again for a period of (10 mins? this changes).

That's it, in a nutshell. The only basis of the game is to lose, really- its kinda fun with friends (so long as people actually 'play' it right) when just sitting chilling someone hangs their head in defeat and simply mumbles '... I just lost the game ...'.

of course, one of the main rules is that you cannot intentionally make someone think of the game- therefore, 'you just lost the game' is kinda breaking the rules, since you are telling people about it, thus forcing them to 'lose'- kinda like the game where you make the hand gesture and try to get people to see it, but you can't put it right in front of their face. That's why subtle things ('the game' in picture names, etc) are the best, they remind people, but don't outright tell them
