No update in March?

Hmmm - as all we can see on PlayOnline are some infos on concerts, doll festival, signed CDs, posters or other merchandise. So - when's the next update???

I looked back to see if the frequency of the updates is the same as in previous years.

Here's a quick summary:

When you put it on a timeline it looks like this (orange square = update):

In 2005 and 2006 there were 5 updates a year, in 2007 and 2008 it dropped to 4 updates a year. I don't think we're gonna get an update in early March - so it seems that the gap is widening....

Pretty sure they always said it was going to be late March. Still it goes against their recent trend of giving us update notes far before the next update.

I would suspect that the time needed to deal with banning the dupers had something to do with the delay.

On topic, I started expecting the updates to be slower this year when they announced the 3 mini-expansions during the last festival. These are a lot of work they're not gonna put in the usual updates.

Maybe S-E wants to sync the updates with these expansions release dates, which may also change their usual schedule.

Two different teams are working on updates and the expansionettes, so that's not the case.

It concerns me as well the increasing update waits since a lot will supposedly come with this patch: namely Northlands exploration, possible new (and varied!) merit camps, and hopefully new campaign additions. Perhaps they are trying to get the new avatars ready for this patch too and that's holding them up. I'd love for SE to just flat out tell us if the update was delayed just so we can be kept in the loop about what's happening. But we all know how in touch with their playerbase they are....

March is a big month and if they plan it for late March, then there is still time for them to update us. Or maybe they are going to sneak it in and not let us know anything until patch day. That would be a fun twist lol

Im glad they didnt announce anything yet, I think in all my time in ffxi it happened maybe once or twice that a maintain or a version update happened during JP time. I hate when i need to reschedule stuff -.-
