Relativity Media announced today that their Tarsem Singh directed Snow White film will be titled Mirror Mirror. The films in in production for so long without a title, that I just thought it was actually going to end up being called Untitled Snow White Film. The movie has completed shooting and is now going through the post production process. It makes perfect sense that the action acomedy would be called Mirror Mirror.

Mirror Mirror stars Lily Collins (The Blind Side) as an exiled princess who enlists the help of seven resourceful rebels to win back her birthright and Oscar-winner Julia Roberts as an evil Queen who steals control of a kingdom, in a magical adventure comedy filled with jealousy, romance, and betrayal that will capture the imagination of audiences the world over. The film also stars Armie Hammer (The Social Network) as the object of their affection, Prince Andrew Alcott, and Nathan Lane (The Birdcage) as the hapless and bungling servant to the Queen.

Rounding out the cast are Robert Emms, Mare Winningham, Michael Lerner, Mark Povinelli, Jordan Prentice, Danny Woodburn, Sebastian Saraceno, Ronald Lee Clark, Martin Klebba, Joey Gnoffo, and Sean Bean.

Couldn't Ford at least get a cameo? T.T

No Ford for new 'Blade Runner' film?

Director Ridley Scott confirms he'll be looking to explore a new story with sci-fi sequel

    WENN

Director Ridley Scott has confirmed his new "Blade Runner" movie will go ahead without original star Harrison Ford.

The director told the Wall Street Journal the project is moving forward "not with the past cast, of course," and when asked whether Ford's character of Rick Deckard will feature, Scott replied, "No, not really." The director also told the Journal that he has been interviewing writers who can help him with the screenplay and said the new project is "liable to be a sequel."

Ford took on the lead role in the cult 1982 film, based on a Philip K. Dick novel, playing a retired detective hired to track down a group of androids passing themselves off as human.

Also, have to wonder if "Mirror Mirror" for Snow White will be based on this novel, same name, twisted version of the same story:

MGM has fond Waldo and has picked up film rights to turn the character into a live-action family adventure. Classic Media's "Where's Waldo" books were created by Martin Hanford and first published in 1987. The story revolves around "the good-natured, bespectacled character who has a knack for blending into crowds." The books have been popular all over the world, selling 55 million copies in more than 38 countries and been translated into more than 30 languages.

The project will be produced by Classic Media and had the following to say in a statement:

"We are thrilled to be bringing the search for Waldo to the bigscreen," said Jonathan Glickman, MGM's motion picture group president. "Along with our partners at Classic Media, we look forward to making a worldwide adventure that will appeal to 'Where's Waldo' fans of all ages."
This is not the first time that the property has been in development, both Universal and Paramount have had projects in the works that never got off the ground.

George Miller has been doing press for his latest film Happy Feet Two, and revealed some details about the long-planned Mad Max sequels. Mad Max: Fury Road and Mad Max: Furiosa are scheduled to be shot back-to-back and Miller discussed the reasons for their delay. He also talked a bit about the future of the Happy Feet franchise and his motion-capture Justice League movie, which almost got made.

Here is what he had to say about the delay of Fury Road, which has Tom Hardy attached to star:

"Theoretically, it's next year. We have 150 big vehicles built and so on."

"[W]e were all geared up for that," Miller recalled. "We were all set to shoot in the Australian desert and then unprecedented rain came and what was the wasteland -- completely flat, red earth -- is now a flower garden. The big massive salt flats in the center of Australia where they do record speed trials and stuff is now full of pelicans and fish... We sort of lost the wasteland."
Miller hopes to begin filming in 2012, but he revealed it is important to point out when a movie is going to happen until the camera is actually rolling.

"You know, John Lennon said, 'Life is what happens when you're making other plans'", Miller smiled. "Films keep on coming out of my head and I never know what film I'm going to make next. Common and I were going to work on a 'Justice League' movie together. He was cast as Green Lantern and it was almost greenlit when it fell away. I fell in love with the guy and I called him up and said, 'You can't play the Green Lantern, but how about playing a penguin?'"
Justice League looked like it was ready to move forward, and was already cast. It had Common, D.J. Cotrona as Superman, Adam Brody as the Flash, Armie Hammer as Batman and Megan Gale as Wonder Woman. Here is what Miller had to say:

"That was a whole bunch of complex events," Miller added. "It was the middle of a writers strike. There was Australian rebate legislation that was required to get the film going. It was just a whole complex series of events. It was no one particular's fault that it didn't happen."
Miller said he is proud of Happy Feet, and stated:

"People do think, 'what happened?' to me," he laughs, "but I do love 'Happy Feet'... I really love making these movies. I love the process of making these movies. They're incredibly hard to make because of the hours you put in. They're incredibly complex."
Here is what he had to say about the possibility of a third installment:

"It's surprising," he said, "but if you put a gun to my head and said, 'You have to come up with a story for 'Happy Feet Three,'' I'd say, 'Shoot me.' I would have no idea. I really would have no idea. The stories creep up on you... You just have to allow the stories to come and then they get in like little earworms in your head and then they won't go away. If that happens and we've got the energy, we'll do a third one. If that doesn't happen, it doesn't happen. But that's the only way you can do it. It has to be authentic. I really wanted to make this film better than the first one. Otherwise, at my age, what's the point?"

    http://geektyrant.com/storage/2011-p...her-Friday.jpg

According to Tiny Lister, Chris Tucker and Ice Cube are set to re-team for another Friday movie. Movies.com reports (via TMZ) that Lister is meeting wiht Cube and Tucker next week to discuss the fourth installment in the franchise and claims it "is gonna be the big one."

This film has been rumored to be the big one since 2007 so I am not holding my breath. What is cool about the sequel, is that it will be the first one in a bit that has Tucker back in the role of Smokey. This will be Lister's first time back in the franchise since 2000's Next Friday. The project is still in the early stages so there is not a plot to report.

In other cool news, Lister revealed that he spoke with Tucker about a Fifth Element sequel, but did not mention anything more. It is not known how serious that last bit of new is at the moment, but it will be cool to see what comes of it.

NBC has ordered a pilot for a comedy script with Sarah Silverman as the main star.

The pilot will star Silverman as a woman readjusting to single life following a decade long live-in relationship. That sounds like her real life a little bit maybe?

Silverman is set to co-write the project with Dan Sterling and Jon Schroeder, who co-wrote her Comedy Central series The Sarah Silverman Program.

Executive producers on the comedy include Ron Howard, Silverman, Sterling, Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo.

Report: 'Happy Feet Two' flop leads to 600 layoffs
Website says 600 out of 700 Australian digital-studio employees lost jobs

"Happy Feet Two" wasn't a box-office smash, and layoffs may have resulted.
    By Kurt Orzeck

LOS ANGELES — As a result of the poor box-office performance of "Happy Feet Two," 600 of the 700 employees at the digital production studio behind the animated movie reportedly have received their walking papers.

Employees at Dr. D Studios, which is based in Sydney, Australia, have been told they will be laid off in the coming weeks, according to IF.com.au. TheWrap was unable to reach Dr. D for comment.

The film, a sequel to 2006's Academy Award-winning "Happy Feet" -- which grossed $384.3 million off a budget of $100 million -- had amassed only an estimated $30.3 million worldwide as of Thursday.

There may be a silver lining for some of the employees, who reportedly have been offered a job at a new company that Kennedy-Miller Mitchell Films -- which launched Dr. D as a joint partnership with Omnilab Media -- plans to get off the ground in early 2012. KMM was founded in 1973 by "Happy Feet" director George Miller and producer Byron Kennedy.

In addition to the layoffs, KMM and Omnilab are reportedly at odds, and there is the possibility that the partnership between the two companies may be dissolved.

Released Nov. 18, "Happy Feet Two" has not found much success. It opened in 3,606 theaters and came in second at the box office during its debut weekend, grossing $21.2 million. Its estimated budget was $140 million.

"We obviously came in a little bit under our expectations on 'Happy Feet,' " Warner Bros. President of Distribution Dan Fellman told TheWrap. "The market expands enormously over the holiday. By next Monday, we'll know whether we're in good shape."

With three new family films released this week -- "The Muppets," "Hugo" and "Arthur Christmas" -- "Happy Feet Two" is unlikely to gain further traction.

Dr. D Studios, which specializes in digital feature film production and high-end special effects, reportedly had hoped to compete with Peter Jackson's Weta Digital in neighboring New Zealand. The studio is also attached to the long-delayed fourth "Mad Max" film, "Fury Road"; Miller was the director, producer and writer for the first three installments.

According to DrDStudios.com, "Fury Road" is in pre-production, although the site also includes an out-of-date notice that "Happy Feet Two" is in production. There are no job openings listed on the site.

It's been awhile since we've heard anything on George Miller's long awaited Mad Max: Fury Road film. The film has been in and out of pre-production for a couple of years now. The movie is finally going to start moving forward and go in front of cameras this coming April in Namibia. We've heard over the years that this would be the first of two new Mad Max films. The second film is titled Mad Max: Furiosa Today we've now learned that Mad Max: Fury Road will actually be the first of three movies.

Miller recently talked to the Australian Financial Review, about how his new Mad Max movie started as a single story, and then gradually grew into a new trilogy.

We started with [Fury Road], but we then started to do a second story and a third. We've written the script for the second and almost finished the third. We never intended to, they were part of the exploration of the characters.
We have no idea where the story for these films will go, Miller didn't offer any details. But, the fact that we will most likely be getting a trilogy of mad Max films with Tom Hardy is pretty freakin' awesome! Like all sequels though, any sequel depends on how well the first movie does at the box office. So lets just hope they turn out being extremely well made entertaining movies.

If things don't go as planned Miller has an animated film project he wants to work on called the Fur Brigade that he's labeling as "the most ambitious thing we've ever done."

Until now there has been very little news on the Daredevil movie that David Slade is directing, until a recent tweet from Slade stating that Brad Caleb Kane (Fringe) has completed the first draft of the script. Obviously there is more work to be done, but he also stated that there will be some news to look forward to in the New Year.

    Here is his tweet:

    http://geektyrant.com/storage/2011-p...s/83277378.jpg

Mark Waid recently revamped the comic book series and has returned Daredevil to his swashbuckling roots. It is not known if Slade's adaptation will keep the same dark tone as established by other writers. I enjoyed Slade's adaptation of 30 Days of Night.

That's right! Starship Troopers is going into remake mode. Sony Pictures and producer Neal Moritz (Fast Five, The Green Hornet) feel no is the right time to reboot the Paul Verhoeven's 1997 sci-fi film Starship Troopers. which was based off of the classic 1959 military sci-fi novel written by Robert A. Heinlein.

They brought on Thor and X-Men: First Class screenwriters Ashley Edward Miller and Zack Stentz to write the script for the new film. Unfortunatley, they also wrote the Frankie Muniz film Agent Cody Banks.

The Hangover III has been in the works since before the Todd Phillips sequel hit theaters over the summer. Phillips stated in May that "obviously we always envisioned it as a trilogy, The third would be very much a finale and an ending... As far as where it takes place, I'm very open."

Bradley Cooper appeared on the BBC’s Graham Norton Show today and gave some update on the film (via Bleeding Cool).

"I think that we adhered to the formula in the second one, for those who’ve seen it, and the third one, I think, which would close the whole trilogy… I think it'll take place in Los Angeles and maybe not adhere to the structure. It might be different.”
Cooper went on to say, "I hope we're gonna start shooting in September. I know that Todd Phillips is working on the script."

The Hangover Part III could start filming as early as next year for a 2013 release. No official start dates have been announced and the title is still tentative at this point. Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis are definitely set to return.
