The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks

What's that? A new zelda? FUCK YAR!

    http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/4568/zelda6y.jpg

Today's Nintendo keynote at the Game Developers Conference ended up bearing Zelda fruit after all, with the announcement of the tentatively titled The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks for the Nintendo DS.

The new game, which looks to play a bit like The Phantom Hourglass, features dungeon maps on the top screen, gameplay on the bottom screen, and a bit of a fascination with trains. In the trailer shown at the keynote, which we will have available for you shortly, Link is seen acting as the engineer for a train with a cannon mounted on the locomotive.

The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks will be available this year for the Nintendo DS. Exciting, isn't it? Hoepfully we'll get to use the DS microphone to make choo choo noises.

I've never played wind waker, but the similar graphic style looks just like it. I was really hoping for a big zelda release, aka the on wii, since I don't have a DS or plan on getting one.

Long as there's no fucking "Temple of Ocean King" setup this time around, it'll automatically be better than Phantom Hourglass.

And here's to hoping there's some actual difficulty this time around (maybe make the ability to mark notes on your map actually required this time around), and a 'larger' feeling game world. I'm just hoping the train bits are not a replacement for sailing about, as I really want a large consistent world, one not separated into 'chunks' by a world map, which was my biggest grief with Phantom Hourglass.
(at least Wind Waker had a *crap-load* of places to explore on the ocean)

But enough about my ranting. I really could use a new Zelda title, and it's about time Nintendo announced something.

[EDIT] You know, I really could use a new Zelda pioneered by Capcom/Flagship, all their handheld renditions have been fantastic.

All with wasted rupees because your wallet wasn't big enough! That always bugged me about the big Zelda titles is they made you find the bigger wallets, while the hand held ones always gave you 999 wallet from the start

And about the touch controls I thought I would hate them when The Phantom Hourglass came out but I thought they did a really good job with them and made the game really fun.

I just came. Phantom hourglass AND Wind waker were amazing. The last let down for me was Twilight princess actually. I mean I beat it... but, just didn't feel like a Zelda game to me.

Phantom Hourglass was great but with the aforementioned temple issue. It's not fun playing through the same dungeon over and over again, Nintendo.

I also did not care much for the sailing bits, mostly because it took forever to get from place to place until you had the tablet and having to babysit your ship the entire time was a huge chore. This train gameplay reeks of that, but I guess at least the terrain will be more interesting to look at while you babysit your conveyance in this game.

People ask for a steampunk Zelda, and they give us the next best thing, a Western Zelda?. Quit being so picky, and whining regardless of whether we get something new (This, WW) or the same old formula (TP)

Looks like it uses the Phantom Hourglass engine... which I won't mind as long as they remove the afformentioned central repeating dungeon and one..other...thing...

YOU FOUND A KEY! CONGRATULATIONS. DO YOU KNOW WHAT A KEY DOES??

YOU USED A KEY! NOW YOU WONT HAVE IT ANYMORE. YOU NEED ANOTHER ONE!!

    A door openned!
    Another door opened!
    This door opened too!
Yep, you guessed it, this door also opened!
And this spike thing came down!

[Edit] I enjoyed the game a LOT more with a AR code that let me press X (i think) for moon jump, let me jump over triggers, doors, etc -- made the second playthrough both hilarious and fun. At one point I had 3-4 copies of the old man on the same screen.
