My draft is tonight, I think I'm ready... My worst fear is drafting someone high who just stubbed their toe or got a DUI or some crap.. I see that happen too often.

#2 pick... Pujols or Ramirez I should be happy

I just had the number two pick myself, rumor had it that the guy who picked first was taking Jose Reyes, so I had the same dilemma. He ended up taking Hanley, though, so I just nabbed Pujols.

I was planning on going with Soriano and Matt Kemp at 18th and 23rd overall (I traded some draft picks to move up a bit) but someone in my league went nuts and picked Kemp 15th. Ended up with Soriano and Sabathia, which I'm actually pretty happy with since pitchers went very early in our draft.

I just drafted my team the other day - I got boned by having no SP last year, so I splurged on CC early this time around.

Kind of worried about pitching myself, looking over everything I wonder if it's a bit thinner this year.

I typically like to pick towards the middle of the rounds in fantasy for that reason, it's not always worth it to have an exceedingly high pick when you lose out later on.

So you ended up with CC at 23? This is the first year of the current league so we're standard on picks, only a 10 team so I've got 19. I might pull the trigger at 22 to get a SP.

Yeah, actually I ended up trading down to 26 and taking Sabathia there because the guy who picked 24/25 (12-team league) definitely wasn't taking a CC, and my friend was worried about getting Roy Halladay later on.

    My team:

There's three bench spots, lineup changes daily so we just rotate pitchers, I just didn't list my last guy as "bench."

I've got a league I'm in and will be in on Wednesday if anyone here is interested.

As far as my team on Yahoo (I'm doing another on ESPN as well)

    Spoiler: show

    C - Brian McCann
    1B - Derek Lee
    2B - Ian Kinsler
    3B - Aubrey Huff
    SS - Alexi Ramirez
    OF - Manny Ramirez
    OF - Corey Hart
    OF - Raul Ibanez
    Util - Xavier Nady

    Bench - Troy Glaus
    Bench - Yunel Escobar
    Bench - Cameron Maybin
    Bench - Orlando Hudson
    Bench - Juan Pierre

    SP - Tim Lincecum
    SP - Jon Lester
    RP - BJ Ryan
    RP - Mike Gonzalez
    P - Justin Verlander
    P - Matt Garza (Ick.)
    P - Jair Jurrjens

My plan is to most likely move an offensive player of mine for a better SP than Garza as I think Jurrjens could have a good year if he can get support from the other starters this year like Lowe.

Hoping for another stellar year from Huff. It's amazing how little people know about him, yet he's got some pop in the bat. Him and Melvin Mora had great years last year. I'm hoping Derek Lee doesn't fucking suck this year because I got him in like.. Round 10. So he was a bargain buy.

Aki, why "Ick" for Garza? I think he'll be able to improve his strikeout rate this year, I'm pretty happy with him as my #3 guy in a 12-team league.

While I personally think he's my #4 behind Verlander, who I think will recover this year.. I dunno. He got beat up a good bit last year, and I'm just worried about their pitching staff. I guess I should be happy that he's my #4 guy though. Just hoping Lester has a good year this coming up year and doesn't take a step back.

It's not too bad for a first try and it's a nice pitching staff. That is assuming Volquez doesn't go through Dusty Baker syndrome.

Again, I have a couple spots open in my league that drafts tomorrow night around 7 Central if anyone is interested.

  14. #14

Had our draft a few weeks back, I drafted 7th. Last two years I came in 2nd and 3rd let's see if I can get it right this time.

What's your e-mail? I'll invite you through the ESPN system.

Also, Nightbreed, I'm not sure how I feel about your pitching staff. It could struggle a little. Other than that, I see no real problems. That's a 12 team Yahoo league I assume, right?

  17. #17

Yes 12 team, my pitching staff definitely needs improvement. We will see what happens, then make moves if need be.

Yeah. My pitching staff I mentioned above with Lincecum/Lester/Verlander/Garza/Jurrjens is in a 12 team league as well. If you have a Yankee fan in your league, I'd trade off Joba for someone. I got Aubrey Huff and Jenks for Joba. I think I heard something about him being on a pitch count again this year as well.

Doumit's a solid choice for Catcher. I'd probably just dump Duchscherer, elbow surgery and I doubt he has a repeat of '08.

    Edit: Double post, my b.
