ok, so i know nothing about FMA. I would see bits here and there on adult swim, but really, I dont know anything about the show plot, charaters, etc. But I keep hearing how good it is. so the question is: do I need to watch the original series before this one? or can i start watching this brotherhood installment?

Its a completely separate show. So no, you don't need to have watched the first version.

If you do watch the first version, you'll appreciate and love the 2nd version a lot more. Not only that, you'll get an extra 20 some episodes of a different storyline and a movie. If you like watching things in bulk, I would definitely recommend watching the 1st version 1st.

Only the raw as far as I can tell, ecplics should be out today maybe tomorrow. Its a good EP. some good info in it I think. The raw posted missing stuff? Its only around 21 min long maybe stuff after the ending to make it fit on youtube.

as the guy said above me you can get them all. It tells you if people are seeding too. As shown most have 20+ People you should be fine getting them all.
edit2: I would go to the link I gave you for past ones as its their sight. I know its all the same just I hate going anywhere but the main area I trust.
