I quit Vesperia near the end of the game because the combat was trash and repetitive and the story was LULZ. Haven't touched a Tales game since. My fave Tale games are Eternia and Abyss.

Trying to get into one of the many new Tales game that I ignored because Vesperia destroyed the franchise for me. So uh, knowing that, which of the 3 should I get: Zestria vs Berseria vs Xillia.

Which one is more like Eternia/Abyss and which one is like Vesperia? I especially hated the god fuckin awful gameplay of Vesperia, esp. that stupid weapons upgrade thingy where your weapon just becomes +1. Fuck everything about that.

I need to scratch this itch for a new Tales game.

Vesperia is great, your opinion is awful.

I enjoyed both Beseria and Xillia and played them a fair amount but it's been so long all I can really tell you is, they're Tales games. To me they've all had a relatively similar gameplay. Maybe I'm not the best to ask but I enjoyed them lol.

Zestria.... Is trash. Fuck it. Due to a character fusion system that boosts strength significantly and has little limits the game has effectively two characters. Further one of your mains characters who joins your party near the start, is featured heavily in game promotion, and keeps having weapons show up in shops until the end of the game, leaves your party about 1/6 in, and NEVER rejoins... -.- So yeah fuck that bait and switch shitty excuse for a Tales game.

I'm almost positive you have no idea which game you're talking about because Vesperia didn't do weapon upgrades like that. And there's no way you could have hated Vesperia's combat but liked Abyss's.

Having said that, Xillia is probably the game you want to try because it mostly avoids the upgrade system you're talking about but the combat is still similar-ish to Abyss (and Vesperia).

Vesperia was easily my favorite of the series. Have waited so long for the "definitive" edition. Already preordered.

At least it is coming out before KH3, but I'm sure KH3 news will probably bury Tales of Vesperia coming out. Either way, I'm probably more excited for Tales of Vesperia than KH3 anyways. >.>

I'll play KH3 first probably but this will still be a day 1 purchase for me. Will help me pass the time to KH3, too.

Damn. January is packed. ToV, REmake 2, and KH3. It's gonna be a good start to the year.

I lost the tutorial fight, lol. Been a long time. Also the stand-in Yuri for the previously undubbed lines is definitely noticeable. It's too bad they couldn't/didn't bring him back to fill in the gaps.

I'm loving this game so far, been waiting 10 years for it.

I really like how it has 0 paid dlc too. Since a lot of other Tales games recently had a ton of costumes and stuff locked behind paid dlc. There do seem to be some pretty broken things in the free dlc you can get (I didn't see anything that boosts grade though? Unless it is one of the key items I didn't claim yet). Definitely saving the level up items for when I need to hit max level, since I assume the higher levels will take more work anyways.

Yeah, I have both dlc. But no items there seem to double earned grade.
