Tales of Vesperia (PS3) | Definitive Edition (PC/PS4/XB1/NSW)

Kind of tempted to buy this, but since my brother got me into MTG Arena, I've been hooked. ><; And with the new cards coming out Thursday I feel like I should hold off. Maybe it will go on sale next summer?

Did they add cutsceen skip? My only gripe with it back in the day was that it didn't exist for bosses you lost to and had to re-watch some of the, sometimes very long, cutsceens leading up to the boss.

Specifically the boss early on where you're solo Yuri vs a bunch of dudes in an alley. Shit was impossible on ??? For me and I watched that screen so many times.

1) Title does nothing stats wise right? Only some Glamor?
2) Do Equipped Skills apply the bonus if they are not learned?
3) Kinda same question but if the skill is learned is it count equipped ? (Because they don't seem to cost SP while they are equipped)

I'm not all that far into the game yet, but I can answer these questions...

1) I wondered that myself. General internet consensus seems to be: They do nothing (other than potentially change your costume).

2/3) If there is a skill attached to equipped gear, then the skill is enabled, regardless of whether or not you've specifically enabled and/or learned it.
Examples to drive the point home:
- I have equipped a weapon with the "every hit does 1 damage" skill. I have not finished learning it. Doesn't matter. Every hit will do 1 damage.
- I have equipped a weapon with the "every hit does 1 damage" skill. I have finished learning it, but I have NOT enabled it. Doesn't matter. Every hit will do 1 damage.
- I have equipped a weapon with the "every hit does 1 damage" skill. Literally nothing else matters. Every hit will do 1 damage.
- I have equipped a weapon that does NOT have the "every hit does 1 damage" skill. I have NOT enabled the "every hit does 1 damage" skill. Now I'll finally do normal damage.


Tip 1: If you want to learn that "every hit does 1 damage" skill from those garbage weapons, just do it while the person isn't an active party member. ALSO MAKE SURE TO UNEQUIP THE SKILL AFTER LEARNING IT! Sometimes the game is like "Oh, hey you've got some spare SP! I'm just gonna go ahead and equip this new skill." which really sucks if it decides to auto-equip those "make you do less damage" skills.

Tip 2: If you're asking yourself "Why is my TP constantly draining?" You probably have Rise Attack equipped (drains TP for more damage). Maybe it's fine later on in the game, but bleeding TP early on is a nightmare.


Why does every Tales game always seem to have weapons and/or skills that make all hits do 1 damage? What is the purpose?

Only use I can think of for 1 damage weapons is to grind arts usage on low level mobs so you don't end up over leveled. This way you can level and unlock new arts on lowbie trash and earn meaningless amounts of xp.

Combo videos or to make triggering certain battle effects easier. In Vesperia's case the Chain attacks or whatever they're called have titles associated to them with every character. The 1 damage skills make these easier to do by making sure you don't instantly murder every enemy you're trying to do them on.

Gonna be first time playing Vesperia, so I'm pretty excited. Been a while since I've played any Tales games too. Any general early game tips I should keep in mind?

Don't sell any weapons ever

Yeah. Hoard weapons. Not only do they teach the skills, but some are used to craft weapons and if you sell the base item it is hard or impossible to get back.

If you care about achievements/trophies, if you even got a version with them, Vesperia has.....a lot of missable things.

Pretty sure titles don't do anything in Vesperia. Aside from costumes of course.

Seconding that there's a TON of missables. Gear, cutscenes etc. Either be religious in talking to everyone between every story moment or use a guide if you're worried about missing stuff.
