Hi all, first post.

After giving FFXIV a whirl, I'm craving a bit of a classic in FFXI. I picked up the rediculous collectors edition (Abyssea) through steam and am super excited to get going.

Unfortunately, I'm currently one of the poor bastards who can't seem to get the Playonline Viewer to run.

I've deleted the steamapps ffxi folder, reinstalled everything, run everything as admin, sung a tune while bouncing on one foot.. I even considered downgrading my driver to Nvidia 265.58, which was a pre-500 series driver but chickened out. The Playonline viewer version I'm using is 1.18.00p if that makes a big difference.

If anyone has experience with this, I'd appreciate the help

My video card is NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M, which I think after much painful search may be too new for SE to bother supporting it for FFXI, but I'm not 100% that's it yet.

Apologies for the big pile o' data below, just graspin' at proverbial straws.
