In regards to the debate at hand, I don't think its any controversy to admit Dany is a petulant, snooty, spoiled, entitled character. He storyline is pretty painful at times and its hard to root for her based on her attitude and personality. Emila Clark doesn't help her case in the show by overacting scenes so much either. "I WILL TAKE WHAT IS MINE FIRE AND BLOOD SCARY EYES HARSH TONES."

Bran is pretty sick, but Arya and Jon Snow are my favorites. Granted, I'm only about 25% through book 4 now, so I don't have the whole story to this point. My respect for Sandor Clegane went up a lot in the 2nd half of the 3rd book though...

Same thing happened to me, except with Theon. I will gained a lot of sympathy for him considering the tough position in life he was dealt.

As someone who hasn't read any of the books, I honestly don't hate Dany or her characterization. For all her temper tantrums and foot stamping, she's only acting that way because she believes that's how royalty is supposed to be treated. She wasn't like that when she first showed up, hell when she first came on she didn't seem to have any real self worth. But after being made a "queen" and constantly being told it's her "birthright" to rule and all that it's clear she started believing it. Despite all her screaming and foot stamping however, it's also clear that she does have the making of a good and kind ruler, it's just with the position she's in she has no real way of taking what everyone around her has been telling her what is hers. The fact she's only 14 (which I never really knew tbh) just makes it even more understandable as to why she's having her little rage fits, she's still just a child who's seen way too many of the people she cares about die while she was powerless to stop it.

Also, I didn't realize that the big funeral pyre that hatched the dragons was supposed to be magic, but in hindsight it makes more sense. She gave three lives (though two were already dead) for three lives. Magic in this show comes across as being very subtle and mysterious, which is really how it should be. It comes across as more of some great force then just some tool for guys in robes to throw around at each other. I'm sure we'll see much more of it as the show goes on, but hopefully it's not ever really explained or even made a central focus of things.

As for the throne itself, I believe it was said at some point that the actual Iron Throne was created by the dragon fire of the original Targaryens, so imo Dany really is the best one with a "claim" on the throne. Which just makes her temper tantrums even more understandable.

I knew that Joffrey ordered the killings of the bastards, I had just assumed it was because they had a legitimate claim to the throne (which they do, over him).

To be fair Ned usually beheaded people with Ice. I think anyone would behead someone in one swing if they could lift it.

Jon and Arya are probably the best characters in the first 3 books. Jon on the show is pretty underwhelming though.
