Wanting to Re-Install FFXI but...

...my DVD drive is having issues; it spits DVD's back out (Games, blank cd's, install cd's, drivers, everything) but lets Cd's work just fine. I've got a MacBook Pro (lolmac, etc etc) with a 70gb Windows Xp partition on it so I'm able to play games, etc etc. Does anyone know a way to fix this/need more info? Another way to install besides torrenting (3 days later QQ)? Anything else I haven't thought of? Open to ideas!

1. Borrow an external drive from someone
or
2. Take your DVD(s) to a friend's machine or another machine
2.1. Make an ISO using that machine
2.2. Copy it onto external hard drive
2.3. Dump it on the machine you want to install and mount it using Daemon Tools

Are the DVD issues only applicable to one of the operating systems or is it the same across the board? If the latter, definately going to want to replace it eventually. The Daemon toolset will give you an intermediary fix however.

I've seen that exact problem at work. It's a bum drive, hopefully still under warranty.

TheStig's suggestion is your best bet. Unless you know a friend who has FFXI installed, then you should just copy his install, and follow this: Moving FFXI Installation without Reinstall [Windower.net]
