WOTG Mission: A Nation on the Brink

I am going to try to solo this as pld/nin with crimson pants. I did some research and read that if I go pull a whole group of mob and bring back to the NPCs before they go off on their own, I will be able to have them fight one mob at a time while I kite the rest for better effeciency. Then after they kill off all the mobs, I will immidiately go pull another group and repeat the act til NM pops. A few questions regarding this strategy:

1) How long do I have until the NPCs start to seperate and go on their own way? should I use powder boots for the initial pull? With flee speed I should be able to pull two groups of mob at the start.

2) I read that there are two waves of mob for each group, do one show up after the other? or are they all there at the start just the second group is deeper in the path.

3) How do I have time after the NPCs kill the last mob in the group and I had to pull another group? Do I run off to pull as soon as the NPCs get the last mob?

4) Allocation of the group of mobs. Since I don't have the map of the place, is it save to assume that the mobs are located in NW, NE, and S? I don't want to waste too much time looking for mobs.
