iPhone game recommendations/discussion

Hay dewdz,

Chances are I'll be getting an iPhone in a month or 2 when my verizon contract expires, mostly for text messaging but a big decision in getting an iPhone over a g1/pre is the fact that I'll more than likely be using it a lot for gaming. There are a LOT of iPhone games out there, and a lot of those are crappy.

I haven't really seen many iPhone game review sites (besides ign) and I trust most (some?) of your opinions, so... what are some good iPhone games?

My tastes are usually RPGs but not sRPGs, action/platformers, adventure, and quirky crap but I'll usually try most anything. So far I'm considering the following:

Crystal Defenders (which I already have on xbox and it's awesome) or the sequel
I Love Katamari
Mass Effect Galaxy
Rolando/Rolando 2
Zenonia (korean zelda clone)

Anyone download anything great for iPhone they'd care to recommend?

Tap Defense is a pretty good tower defense game. It's pretty addicting. Mega Man 2, Space Ace (its like Dragon Slayer from back in the day), MGS Touch.

There's so many games, but my boyfriend only spends money on ones he KNOWS are good. Considering I carry a DS everywhere I don't really rely on the iphone that much for gaming, just more for passing time in restaurants or w/e.

The arcade classics (Pac-Man, Frogger, Centipede etc.) that're available are a total ripoff at $10 each.

On the other hand, I dropped a buck for this South Park game and it was quite enjoyable and challenging.

Stickwars is def worth a buck. Its a wall defense game with upgrades you can get like mages, archers, hp ugrades ect.

Get crystal defenders, its badass. Save your money on katamari.

The most fun game i've had on the iphone honestly though is trism. I fucking hate casual games especially puzzle games, but trism is fucking awesome. Download that shit.

Which nobody has done. Your record of hating on portable platforms is duly noted as an unbroken streak. Now GTFO of a portable gaming thread.

Generally speaking the best on the iPhone is going to be a port of a game you already like on the net. Fantastic Contraption is there, Peggle is there, Katamari is there, etc.

O yea peggle lol definitely get that one. It's addicting. It was 99 cents today till midnight. Lost your chance to get it for cheap.

Has the Sim City 3000 errors/glitches been fixed? I can see that being a fun game otherwise, one of my many things to get when I ever buy an iPhone (paying off something in the meantime).

Grab Peggle while its still only a buck... oh shi... that ended yesterday.

My top iPhone games are (in no particular order):

-Space Ace (yyyeaaahhh!)
-Assassin's Creed is now only 4.99$, definitely worth it.
-Peggle.
-Zen Bound
-Sally's Spa is a fun casual game and only .99$ atm.
-Zenonia (best rpg on iphone.. its like a modern day Link to the Past w/a Diablo like skill tree).
-Star Defense, haven't played it but heard good things. And it has a level designed off of the Borg ship so it has to be awesome.
-Hero of Sparta is fun. Imagine GoW for the iPhone

I haven't purchased it yet, but Fantastic Contraption is on the iPhone and I have to withhold buying it every time I go to the apps store. Anyone here got it that can review it? Last time I checked the app reviews they were about as polarizing as you can get with either it crashes all the time or zomg111 gr8!

Fantastic Contraption would be cool if it had more than just the original 20 levels from the web game. User levels would be nice too. Anyone know how many levels the game has?
