    New Comp build (yep again)

    Hi,

As my old computer just crap out on me, I need to build a good computer, but not too pricey. I'm looking at around ~$800-$1000 range (though $800 would be better). So far this is what I have for the main components:

    Processor Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 $180
    MotherBoard GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD3R LGA 1366 $230
    Or GIGABYTE GA-EP45T-UD3P LGA 775 $140
    V. Card Nvidia GeForce GTX 275 $260

What's your opinion on this build? What would you change?
I also need help on RAM, and the Power supply as I really don't know which to pick.
Thank you for the inputs :D

If you plan on using that E8500, you won't be able to use the EX58 mobo (wrong socket).

For powersupplies I'd say pick up a PCP&C Silencer 750. They're relatively cheap (usually cheaper than the Corsair 750TX), but they got really good reviews. I use on in my main machine and its been working great.

Echo what Kyamie said - X58 boards are only compatible with Core i7 and Xeon 35xx & 55xx series processors at the moment, so go with a P45 board.. and get the E8400 you're really not gonna see much difference from that $15 and both chips have the same overclock ceiling.

The one you did choose (GA-EP45T-UD3P) is a great board though I did a little digging and there's two pretty significant differences between it and the EP45-UD3P. The T model can take DDR2 or DDR3 modules (and run DDR3 dual channel) BUT it can only take 8 gigs total, while the non-T can take up to 16 gigs of DDR2. It comes comes down to whether you want max memory capacity or max speed memory, and whether the extra speed capability is worth another $15.

I'll go either way on power supplies.. Corsair & PCPS are both good quality brands (Corsair's PSUs are made by Seasonic which accounts for the higher price).
