I wish it was a Chrono game but... what would the 4 mean then lol. The background *KINDA* looks like it could be though
my bitterness towards SE would definitely go away(somewhat) if it was a Chrono game though. or a cool looking mana game

Chrono Trigger > Radical Dreamers > Chrono Cross > 4
(Although I believe Chrono Cross "replaced" Radical Dreamers as far as cannon is concerned)
Kotaku said it might have something to do with the four warriors of light trademark so my guess is FFI remake for DS.

FFI-2?
Where are the FFI remakes? There was that anthology set for PS. A FFI made for any recent engine of theirs would be awesome. ^^;
And they just got ESRB recertification for FF1/2 to be downloaded on PSN.
Anyway, I think if it was the announcement of the US release of Blood of Bahamut or the FFLegends2 remake (both of which have already had countdowns/annoucements) it wouldn't be listed on their US site, but since this address is .jp I tend to think it's something completely new, a new game that hasn't already been announced in Japan.
Looking at the image and the "4" I'm led to believe it's the 4th game in a series being released... maybe Grandia IV? It's one of the few RPG series of SE's that hasn't had a DS/next gen remake announced yet, and one of the few series that's only had 3 releases (excluding xtreme).
I'm betting it's a new SaGa game which makes me a sad panda.
Would love to see it as another Chrono Game , but won't hold my breath. As much as I love the FF series...hope not another FFI release ._.

If it was a real Secret of Mana game i'd be in love, but it would most likely be an entire new game build from the ground up that has no resemblance to the original Secret of Mana, yet still called by the same name.
It's gonna be a DS game at the very most because the BGM is like 8bit lol
It's not Seiken Densetsu 4, guys. I can understand you'd forget it but...
Dawn of Mana - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - Seiken Densetsu 4.
I really don't think it's Grandia 4, as I just wouldn't see them making such a big grandiose announcement over it. Then again, they did that for Blood of Bahamut...
I'd just like to see them hold up on some of their previous projects. How about Parasite Eve 3? How about how once upon a time they officially announced remakes of VII, VIII, and IX from the PS2 era?
*Maybe* a BoF 4 remake (3 was rereleased on the PSP), but again, don't see that meriting a countdown.
The only thing that comes to mind is SoulBlazer 4, but I think that series basically died when Quintet all went their separate ways, and some people believe Terranigma already had a successor (or two). The numbering on that whole series is subjective anyway.
Edit: I don't recognize the music, but it sounds like Famicom-era music. Definitely not from DQ4, which they just remade anyway. I almost missed the music, it's rather quiet.
...Ogre Battle 4?!
and Capcom announced something to the effect that they'd never release an RPG or a breath of fire game again.
And parasite eve is apparently well underway, for psp (called The 3rd Birthday), but knowing SE that could mean itll be out any time in the next 5 years lol.
They said it was because RPGs are only really popular in Japan and only certain RPG series sell well (i.e. not theirs) worldwide, I guess? Here's the link

After 2, Breath of Fire kind of went downhill anyways. At least in my opinion.
I really hate these stupid countdowns. It will just be announcing a game that won't be out until next year probably, and then we will have to continue waiting.....making the countdown pretty much pointless. >.>
Every countdown I've seen has been pretty disappointing so I have no high expectations for this one, I am curious though.
Final Fantasy Legend stopped at 3.... >.>
