Mythbusters set to test Gorn Cannon from Star Trek

Didn't see a mythbusters thread when I searched, merge if there is one obviously.

Finally someone is going to test the Star Trek cannon (that is ‘cannon’ with two n’s). Mythbusters, the Discover Channel show that puts urban legends (and TV & movie magic) to the test, is finally going to take on Star Trek. Specifically they are going to test the feasibility of the cannon that Captain James T. Kirk built to defeat the Gorn in the original series Star Trek episode "Arena"

Tonight is the final episode ever. Sad day. Was a huge fan of them all throughout the seasons.

It's highly unlikely. Rumors of Tory, Grant, Kari maybe doing something similar but Adam and Jaime are done.

The reunion show is awesome. Obama and NDT were pretty heavy. Very sad to see the show go.

It was a good show supported entirely by the likeability of the cast. They ran out of legit myths to test after like three seasons, but it was fun to watch them do just about anything.

Can't find anything online yet, but they're replaying the episode tonight at 9p ET. It's damn impressive; the visible shockwave made it very satisfying to watch. Unlike most explosions they've done, they weren't even outside. They were in some bunker watching it on a screen.

It was a good show supported entirely by the likeability of the cast. They ran out of legit myths to test after like three seasons, but it was fun to watch them do just about anything.

After a few seasons it stopped being about myths and started being a show that conveyed the importance of at least attempting to apply critical thinking to seemingly mundane claims.

...with lots of explosions interspersed. Know your audience, etc.

I had thought they grew to be friends but I guess not. In the early seasons there is definitely some visible friction.

I honestly always thought that was fake for television amusement. Afaik, Jamie recruited Adam for the show because he knew people wouldn't like watching his "boring" self and he had previously worked on a film with Adam and knew Adam was the kind people would like.

So weird. But it's cool they could always set aside their differences. Sad to see it go, but I do think it was time.
