Final Fantasy XIV Famitsu Giveaway!

BG Forums is having a Famitsu Magazine Giveaway! Much like our taru companion is here (FFXIV Media Blitz! Famitsu, Dengeki & more! :: Final Fantasy XIV (FF14) at ZAM), I sent out good buddy Elmer out to the store to acquire me some arrows, courel subs, pot-au-feu, and Famitsu. Of course, being a taru and therefore sneaky, he ganked my wonderful idea and went ballistic with it! No hard feelings though, there is room for both of us on the interweb, Ill just make sure I put our magazines on the third shelf and take away his step stool.

Alright! The giveaway is simple. Post in this thread with your intent to play XIV. Nothing fancy, no forum donations required (though we do love us some donations), just post, tell us your race and jobthing and boom! You are entered, almost as easy as hitting a small running object with an arrow at a hundred paces!

I have 9 magazines to give away (yes, Im keeping one for myself), and you can only enter once. Anyone found posting with multiple accounts to win will be disqualified and banned. Residents of the US and Canada only please (sorryyyy). If you have any questions you can feel free to PM me.

Yup defiantly going to be playing Final Fantasy XIV when its released, going to have to be on the PS3 as i can't yet afford to upgrade my PC to get the most out of it.

I will be rolling a Lalafell (its a taru damn it!!!) and we all know they excel at magic so i'm going to be predictable. Hoping that the mage type job will let you specialise more towards BLM type magic or FFXIV idea of a summoner. Big explosions in HD <Yes, Please>

I'll most likely be using the same name as in FFXI, Kurokikaze, and cause of that I'll be using the same character model (Hyur face 2 I'm assuming). As for characteristics... Not sure what to say, probably brown hair, dark brown eyes (that might change to something weird like red if thats an option). Probably not gonna pick the tallest setting for the character this time around.

Given the jaw-dropping artworks of the city states that we will be able to inhabit, I'm at a loss right now. Can't seem to decide between Ul'dah or Limsa Lominsa. The cities all look absolutely amazing, but I'll probably settle for the one by the sea. ><;

Fighter all the way yo! Soon as it branches off into something like SAM, DRG (yeah think I'll make that mistake again), or maybe even PLD, I'll be doing that. I'm obviously also going to be leveling as a healer on the side just so I have some heal spells to help my fighter solo better. As for crafts; I'll probably do Blacksmithing since it sounds like you'll be able to repair your equipment (at least I think so).

Lets Start off because mine is nothing fancy at all but I will list it all.

-Buy a PS3 (hopefully a slim if rumors are true) and Pre-order a copy for both PC and PS3 so I have best of both worlds, and wait til launch day buy reading this forum and looking at the main website almost every-day at least once. Wait for news of a Beta and try my luck.

-once I find a release date, I will request a week off from that date from work. save up money, get some food drink my roommate will join me.

-release day I will install on my PC and insert into my PS3 and glue myself to the screen for the cut scenes. I will definitely play as Elvaan(Elezen?) Male named Averrinicus because thats how I started my FFXI career. Hopefully I can start out in a city of my choice in which case it would be Limsa Lominsa most likely unless I hear differently. I will definitely try to find a way to be a "Red Mage" because I loved and hated that job so much. figure out basic game mechanics do some guildleves freak out with people not sleep for a few days. EXPLORE!!! I want to explore this place above everything else I'm not hardcore but I love to explore explore explore and do it naked so I don't ruin my new gear :D

-hopefully by then I'll have some friends so I can do some group things here and there. and start my MMO career over again. once I get the hang of it and I figure out everything I am familiar with I will start trying out all the disciplines one at a time enjoying myself every bit of the way.

---- forgot to add, that I will start a linkshell for casual players, not to casual but people that will play atleast once a day to keep up LS activity and such and for help and quests and socializing. assuming they are still called linkshells.

Gonna be playing ffxiv from release (or beta /crossesfingers). I'm not sure what I'll roll this time around, I'm a hume F now. Might try a cat or a lolifell. I'd like something well balanced like my hume though. I like the idea of hybridizing if I want to. I know that if there is anything akin to pup or blu I'll be going that route as those are my 2 favorite jobs in ffxi. Probably use the same name.

Clearly going the Elezen path. No doubt about that. But now I'm troubled in deciding if I want to pick female or male. With female I get to cheat men on the internet out of gil and look good doing it. But I'll most likely stick with male (including my name: Jaybar).

Starting location is always tough (definitely not doing the Forest). If Limsa becomes the "bastok" of FF14, I'll probably do that. Otherwise I'll pick Ul'Dah since it seems more medieval.

Job specifics will be warrior class. Not going to touch mage for a while. I'll be branching that off into a Dragoon. I don't care if it's not in the game, I'm going to do it D:< Like I never regretted choosing the job in FFXI, I won't regret it in FFXIV..hopefully.

I'll definitely pick up crafting early on too. I'm not missing that golden opportunity again. Maybe fishing won't be as boring as FFXI.

Going to play probably as hume (forget what the new name for this race is) with the same name Zoobernut. Will probably go down the ranger/thief road again. I think it is called Rogue in XIV or something along those lines.

I will be playing FFXIV, chances are i'll be playing as a "taru" again. I want to be a summoner since I've loved that job ever since I started playing my first FF, so undoubtedly I will start on the Sorcerer's path. I'd like to start in Gridania, though if they have something like the starting rings for FFXI I'll start where ever that is.

I'll be updating my PC for this, since I've been thinking about getting a new one for years now. I'm excited because, as much as I loved FFXI, I felt like starting several years after the NA release both hindered my progress and made the game much less exciting. I had to play twice as much as people who had started earlier and I still didn't get the same thrill they did when I accomplished something (aside from beating RDM Maat at 67, that rocked). I remember running through the Shadowlord's castle and thinking "wow... this would have been so cool back when these mobs were all really difficult due to the level cap, but now... it's just... meh."

I'm not sure what race I will pick this time but I'm thinking maybe Taru. It will depend on the character models (and whether there are any backflips this time around). I doubt I will be an Elvaan F again, though. but who knows, it could be a good chance to reroll my old character and do her the right way.

I haven't decided which job path I'll take yet. I like RDM in FFXI because it's so unbelievably flexible and has ridiculous amounts of enfeebling and mob control, but I hate XPing on RDM because being a support job in XP is boring as hell. I also might want to try something new. on the other hand, I'm not a big fan of melee since it's mostly just about hitting things with your big bad sword over and over again.

if I had to choose right now I'd choose SMN if there is such a thing in FFXIV (and given the history of the FF series, I'm sure there will be). whatever I choose, I'm just hoping it won't end up to be a gimped job lol.

name will depend on the race and gender, but it will probably be a reference to Tori Amos or Neil Gaiman or something like that. that's how I chose my FFXI name of Corin, being a reference to one of my favorite bands, Sleater-Kinney. then again I might decide to go with a videogame reference, like my name on here. we'll see.

Miqo'te from Limsa Lominsa (Give me a sea side city). I love my DRG so whichever job will lead to that. I'll probably fiddle with the mage side too, but it'll be the job I'm less focused on.
