edit: so are instances going to be cross-server now?

Instances have been cross server in 4 battle groups for awhile now. Any server that never gets the "Cannot launch additional instances" is a cross-server instance server. That's how they're fixing the issue for people, and that's why it's taking so long for the other 9 battlegroups. You don't take 15-18 instance servers within the battlegroup and just connect them together and expect everything to be happy.

That's essentially how the horde and alliance have been all expansion. Too stupid to see the true enemy and to ignore the smaller ones for the time.

Pretty obvious it's all set up for the Garrosh vs Varian "great war" at this point.

Yeah, I suppose that is true. But I would think inside the icecrown Citadel... on the way to the Lich King... they would oh I dunno, decide maybe this might be a good time to work together? I guess giving him more corpses to use a fodder is a better idea.

We worked together to banish a great evil (Archimonde) but after that a lot of shady shit went down. Neither one trusts the other at all after the last few years of stuff, especially with parts of both factions greatly offending parts of the other faction. From what I understand at the Wrathgate the factions were working together, but after the great betrayal of the RAS the alliance aren't trusting the horde to watch their backs or anything and even expect attacks from behind and probably in the setup to Icecrown have gone and retaliated in small skirmishes (like in the open area in SE Icecrown with horde/alliance mostly dead soldiers about). So the only way the faction believes they can focus on the Lich King is to get the other faction out of the picture.

It was supposed to be a loss of trust and falling apart of peaceful relations over time, but I don't think you really get that feeling unless you pay attention on quests and few people do that.

Oh I totally do! I have not done the LK quests in a long time though and never really finished all of Northrend. Though I agree with each faction believing the other to be untrustworthy and malicious, I'm still unsure why they would still fight against each other while literally standing in the Lich kings castle surrounded by the most powerful creatures of the scourge.

Well, at the Wrathgate they left each other alone to engage the Lich King...and both armies got wiped the fuck out and not by the Lich King...

The War needs to be put back in Warcraft. Maybe not the most opportune time for it, but the conflict has been cold-war at best for the duration of TBC/WotLK.

to really fan the flames they have to add more quests where you target the opposite faction. Thinking back, I cant really think of that many quests that you do.
Ive always been alliance and only played a horde char up to 45, but the only quest that pops up in my head right now is when you enter ashenvale from the barrens and escort some rag-tag group to raid the sentinels (even tho they are technically neutral to alliance).

Yeah, that's going to drive the bad ally players on my realm to horde, and I'm going to cry miserably because I have to deal with even more stupid on a daily basis.

Just level past the noobs. I think when it's all said and done I'll see less Worgens in the starting area than DKs in a week of 50s BGs. Most of them won't make it past 20. I'm hoping to get my copy quick and zoom through before the masses, but the chances of that are slim.
