I have a black mesh Jansport backpack.
I have a black mesh Jansport backpack.
Ok, looking to buy tonight, tried the first week of school w/ my busted bookbag and decided its not gonna work the whole year.
My final 2 choices are
Amazon.com: MAXXUM from SwissGear by Wenger Computer Backpack Red: Electronics
vs
Amazon.com: Targus TXL617 17 XL Notebook Backpack: Computer & Accessories
how is Targus w/ quality and as for the actual size of the bag + room for stuff (mainly raw room in the largest component) which is going to be the better choice?
Edit: I guess comfort/durability can be a factor too, as i ride my bike 80 miles per week.

Best backpack I've ever bought.
I have a victorinox bag and it's really very durable and very good. Been around the world a couple of times with it and taken laptops, all sorts of papers, etc. etc. I got it because I didn't want a distinctly "laptop" labelled bag because that identifies you as a laptop carrier which is more desirable in dodgy places. But I'm a rather weakling chick so if you're a big hefty guy you probably don't need to worry so much
Victorinox - Laptop-Ready - Oxford is pretty similar to the one I use (comes in other colours than pissy blue though), I would highly recommend it.
I thought this thread was going to be about how you needed to replace your backpack because you tried to fart and shit in it instead.
L. L. Bean, their backpacks are pretty ridiculously awesome. I dunno if it's because I'm from Maine and grew up with only those, but I had maybe 2-3 total from K-12, and only got new ones because I needed a bigger bag. They last forever and are pretty amazing.
Have really comfortable messenger bags too
The backpack I've had for like 10 years broke down recently (aka: Dog peed on it during a frisbee tournament, and was tearing, and I lost it until a friend told me he had it) So I bought a new one at Target!
Swiss Backpack : Target Search Results
I got a swiss backpack at Target for, like, $30, and it fits my 17" macbook pro and anything else I want to carry. It has super comfortable straps and a little keyring hook inside that you can detach and carry around. For the price I think it's great. Online it's more expensive than it would be in your local Target. The one I got was the SWGR Backpack Grey/Black.
Good luck!
one word: Invicta.
2nd for the timbuk2 but I use my timbuk2 laptop messenger on a bike/for school and shit works fine, also you stand out in a good way since they are sexy ass messenger bags and few people have them. Timbuk2 is a bit expensive though (especially w/ cooler designs) but they last a long time, take a lot of abuse and can hold a metric fuckton of stuff. Look into them b/c they could handle what you say you need, just a question if they are within your price range/style preference.

Fucking scrubs, skateboarding backpacks is where it's at. It's all about style AND functionality. I went through HS using the same backpack and it still looked damn good, it was Spitfire though.
