Heca head or Voyager's salet (or something else) for unstacked Sneak Attack? I hear I want to stay away from the slow+ on unstacked SA.
why do you keep remaking this thread
May I see your math because I have it more around 75/80% racc. Any higher and it really starts leaning towards AF+1 more.Originally Posted by Vodou

Just to clarify on the Barrage + AF+1 issue in last thread, am I mistaken in thinking the AF+1 hands only needs to be equipped when using the ability? Not through the whole thing?
I don't have anything better yet so I'm fulltiming them atm (need the abj or S.kote for better) so I can't tell myself right now
If you're using it for a WS piece on SAM, then STR+4 AGI+4 WS Acc+15 WS Damage+2% will far and away outperform STR+6 or STR+6 Attack+8
Yes. 4str and 2% ws dmg will outperform every single head piece there is for sam.
4 STR +2% WS damage on an average Gekko of 1000 is +20 damage, +2 STR and no WS bonus is about 7 damage.
Had asked this a while back and I only got one response, but while we're on the subject, would str4 ws damage 2% beat gnadbhod's for kaiten?
I doubt gnad would beat galea for even kaiten.
Depends on the target, I would imagine. The harder it becomes level/def wise, the better Gnadbhod's Helm is going to be compared to Champion's Galea. It's probably going to boil down to swapping them around about where you use Osode vs Haub+1/Byrnie+1 on Gekko.
The math behind this is that 9.5 Attack becomes more valuable as the enemy becomes higher level/higher def. Let's use the ubiquitous Greater Colibri as an example;
Let's say you have 450 attack before in both cases and just call it 10 Attack.Originally Posted by otherwiki

Increase: 0.03/1.09 = 2.7%.

cRatio before: 450/327 - (0.05 * 7) = 1.02

So yeah, anything above merit level (since you should have much higher than 450 Attack there after buffs) and 9.5attack should be better than 2% WS damage assuming no Attack boost and assuming the 2% WS damage is a simple static +2%.
This is also purely thinking about the Attack, not considering STR's effect on fSTR/WSC which will push Gnadbohd's Helm even more firmly into the lead.
The only danger of entirely gearing like this is that it works best in situations where melee DoT is very important (squishier mobs) and also that it is not always optimal to have a weaker SA (if you won't get another attack round in before the mob is dead for instance); if you want to be perfect, have two sets.Heca head or Voyager's salet (or something else) for unstacked Sneak Attack? At any rate, Hecatomb Cap is significantly stronger than Voyager's Sallet for soloSA so I'd be wary giving it up.
Tatami Shield or Viking Shield for Thf/War on HNM's using Mandalic Stab/Shark Bite?
Thanks in advance.
I'd go with Viking.
Mirke for THF ATT+10/DW+3 or ACC+10/DW+3 or ACC/ATT?
The middle.
