    Gaming mouse advice

Looking to upgrade from a vanilla microsoft laser to something more responsive for FPS and hardcore solitaire sessions. Since I'm a fingertip gamer my main concern is if a g5 or g9 would still fit comfortably despite being more claw-oriented or would something more like a Razer Copperhead fit better?

I have a G5 and i have put all the weights possible to keep it nice and heavy, it gives me an extremely steady hand when it comes to FPSs. Before that i used to have a razer mouse, well it was the microsoft habu made by razer, after 1 year it took a crap and buttons misfired all the time. the G5 has lasted well over a year and i don't plan to change it. the G9... i tried it, very uncomfortable for me, ditto w/ the new Microsoft Sidewinder mouse.

Deathadder is silly cheap compared to the SteelSeries uber mice I was looking at.

Can back up the MX518. Had mine for two years, and the only thing wrong with it is after constant use the rubbery silicone material rubs off eventually. Ended up peeling off most of it on both sides, but other then that mouse performs like a champ.

^ this. Mine's starting to peel

I might get a razer mouse when this one dies.

I've had my G5 for over a year and it never let me down. Once you find a comfortable setting/weight distribution you'll be a one man army in any PC only FPS. Auto-Targeting is for pussies.

Mine is peeling too. I like the mouse, even though it is a lot bigger than I was used to. I've had it for a few years now and it works nicely still

My original Boomslang 2100 was starting to get intermittent recently so I had to retire it I've got the laser version of it but it's just not as accurate. I wish I could find a 2100 somewhere that's new.

Only gaming mouse I have used is deathadder but have loved it

    However

Mouse pad is a billion times more important than the mouse you use.

When I went from a shitty 1 dollar mouse pad to the Everglide Titan mousepad I was like HOLY SHIT it's just such a big difference. And the thing is absolutely huuuuuuge

Seems their website is down though and amazon no longer has it in stock. Costs about 15 bucks.

Why use a mousepad with an optical mouse, provided your desk surface tracks fine?

Friction, I used to be against the idea till I tried a higher-end pad. If its new its literally like gliding your mouse on air, very little resistance.

Eh, maybe it'd depend on the actual desk surface still. Only time mine isn't really smooth is if the teflon pads on it are gunked up. If I want it "light" I can take out the weights.

Pad mentioned is basically just an oversized cloth pad anyway, at least from reviews.

Yeah, my desk isn't something I'm comfortable playing on, have tried before. So can't comment on that.

I wouldn't call the pad oversized though. Finally not falling off of a mouse pad because I use low sensitivity = so awesome. Normal sized mouse pads are wayyyy to small.

I use the Logitech Mx510. I have had this mouse for 5 years now, and have not had any problems with it, it still works like the day I got it. I just hope it never breaks because i would never want to replace my little mouse buddy.
