something something Dark One IDK
I feel like Wheel of Time, unless it changes down the line, is going to be porn for the mind... candy-coated derivative fantasy shit done well, if not done different. I'm ok with this.

That's really pretty much it. It gets bad in book 8+, but the last 3 books redeem it by and large.
The actual ending...not so much.
Ordered the new Thrawn novel. I'll start that after finishing book 5 of The Expanse.
Finished The Sword of Destiny , second Witcher short story book. Really enjoyed it. Surprised not much chatter on it.
I enjoyed Dunk and Egg tales too. Anymore short story books I should know about?
Spoiler: show
Finished the Witcher novels. I enjoyed them overall but I enjoyed the early stuff and world discovery more than the plot. And fuck the Lodge.
What to start on next....
Finished the Chronicle of the Unhewn Throne trilogy by Brain Staveley.
It was decent. A lot of the pacing felt disjointed and there was a good bit of unnecessary content.
Ratings:
First book 7/10
Second book 6/10
Third book 5/10
Just finished "We are legion, We are Bob". Starting on the second book that came out a week ago, so far I'm enjoying this series.
Once I finish Elantris I'm going to get started on Wheel of time. I'll be finished with the Cosmere so far. I can't wait until the Oathbringer. Btw Sanderson has a humble bundle up right now. It's not any of his big works and are mostly graphic audio.
A friend of mine just finished The Final Empire. So much more to discover in the next 2 books. He's asking questions and I don't spoil him although some things are not even explain in the Era1.
i just finished john dies at the end. amazing, really unexpected exactly how good this was. i'm a sucker for body horror, cosmic horror and existential dread, but this thing pushed all my buttons.
going to start on this book is full of spiders tonight.
The movie popped up on Netflix. I don't know how true to the sauce it was but I enjoyed it. Really weird movie.
I read warbreaker after stormlight and just realized. I plan on doing a reread before the thirds drops and I'll take my time this time.Spoiler: show
aside from the spider scene (which was amazing, well done), the movie was like someone took a really, really toned down cliff notes version of the book and amped the corny up to 11. it did make me giggle in a place or two and clancy brown is ace, but, no. it was kind of like they were going with an evil dead level of cheese but kind of missed the mark. i might have enjoyed it more if i wasn't in the middle of the book when i watched the movie.
Finished Mistborn Shadows of Self and now a quarter of the way through Bands of Mourning.
Meh. It's not bad, it's just... meh. Is the 2nd firstborn trilogy supposed to be Alloy of Law, Shadows, and Bands or is Alloy supposed to be a weird middle book with another still to come?
Also just got the Thrawn trilogy books. I've never read any star wars literature and I've heard the Thrawn trilogy is pretty much the best of the best so I decided to give it a try despite it no longer being canon.
Thrawn is boss mode. Probably the best EU stuff around.

Just finished this, got linked to it because the dude wrote it off a Reddit /r/writingprompt thing.
It's pretty terrible.
I was never a huge Star Wars guy, but the Thrawn trilogy was pretty great.
New Thrawn book was quite good. Builds a foundation into potential future novels that aren't covered by the movies.
Assassin's Fate by Robin Hobb is being released tomorrow, been looking forward to this one for a while.
I have the first book of that trilogy in my saved Amazon list right now.
Is it worth reading?
Have you read any of the other trilogies in the series? I recommend all of them, this latest one included.
Yah everything in the farseer series is pretty good....I don't like the river wild series even though set in the same "world" and the soldier's son series was a trainwreck. Hobb is very hit or miss. I'm starting the new book tonight.
