[Rulke]

T.E.R.A. is an action/targetless style MMORPG that was released Jan 2011 (in Korea) from a company called BlueHole Studios (q3/q4 release in 2011 for NA/EU). It is boasting plenty of exciting things like spectacular graphics, engaging story mission/quests, seperate PvP and PvE servers to help cater to both gamer types. (Personally the game so far seems very PvE driven to me, which I prefer, but I know there are PvP lovers out there too). I've been following this game since April/May of 09 and was a tester in their 1st and 2nd FGT as well as the CPE.

My goal for this thread is to update it with info for people who might be interested and dont feel like visiting "official" sites or fansites. I am 100% sold on playing this game, and it actually pushed out any desire for me to play FFXIV (this thread is not to be about Tera VS "another mmo" btw).

6/24/2011: J-Tera retail will start July 29th. As you may recall BHS earlier said their goal was to launch Tera in Japan this "summer" and follow up with testing for NA/EU about a month after. So far, looks like they are right on track so we could see open beta here as soon as late Aug sometime!

3/21/2011: CPE (Community Play Event) invites will go out this Friday (25th). The servers for the event will be open April 2-3. This is to start testing the stability of EME servers as well as get feedback on how the game is shaping up.

1/10/2011: KOBT starts today (well, starts 1/11/2011 but its already tues in Korea). Lets hope this goes well and that launch follows! With any luck we'll start to see more testing over here soon!. 10/20/2010: Main site http://www.tera-online.com/ got its facelift finally. Much nicer on navigation etc. I am guessing that with GStar 2010 coming in Nov, Korean version is still slated to launch late Dec. We may be seeing another FGT here then too, though the site still suggests that beta testing for us is still scheduled 'later this year' so maybe we'll see some sort of closed beta too.

2/28/2010: 3CBT beta started last friday for Korea so there will be a lot of new game footage out soon. Hopefully some of this will help answer lingering questions that still remain on some of the unclear gameplay aspects. I'll update with anything new and important.

Here is a cool vid showing some of the character creation, mainly face options. NOTE: its not final, it is unknown at this time if any race/class combos will be locked. ALSO: all races have both genders except the Baraka, they are genderless (ala Galka). More customization options are expected to come as well, this is simply what is avaiable at this time for CBT3.

Included player wall papers, UI/controls, char creation guide, some trailers and a generic "recap" of known info. I am posting this just for newcomers to see or for those who are loosly following this game. Other sites are mostly forum based and filled with retarted people and its a waste of time to try and gleen any real info out of that.

I'm not huge on PvP in MMOs, but I am eager to see if they can pull off this new "targetless" battle system. If the game has some real content to it, I think I will pick it up as well.

Apparently, rumor is this is running the modified Lineage 3 code stolen from NC Soft, and the company that is developing this is the old Lineage 2 developers. If so, I'm going to keep my eye on it. But after Aion, I have little faith left in Korean MMO's.

TERA will be P2P, but they have not yet announced how much or the pay model. It may have bee mentioned that it will follow "the standard" process for whatever the country usually does, so here in the USA it'll probably be monthly.

There was a very limited Focus Test Group run this past weekend which I was a part of. The game looks and feels amazing. The gameplay of battles was really exciting. Mainly they were looking for early feedback on how things were setup, and opinions on things like quest length, battle time, PvP preferances, etc.
