So why no thread about the elections tonight?

    Cause conservatives are WINNING?

Votes are still being counted, but it seems to me both of the Governor races will be taken by the GoP.

Seat 23 is a pretty tight race, but even if the conservative there doesn't win, a close race should shake things up in the White House.

    Discuss.

2 gubernatorial races and a congressional district WOOOOO. Same effect as raising the temperature in a lake by peeing in it.

A purple state elected a Republican governor in a low-turnout, off-year election (Virginia). Big deal. As for New Jersey, I'm glad to see Corzine go. Not that Christie is any better, but Corzine was an embarassment to the Dems.

Bloomberg is winning, that is all.

Wait, you mean that Virginia, a state that has voted Republican for the last 40 years except the last election, went back to a Republican?

    No.

    Way.

Also, I live in New Jersey, and Corzine has been increasingly unpopular with numerous tax hikes, and dealing with divorce and other scandals under his watch. The fact that Christie didn't win by a landslide is a joke.

Local elections being invested with national significance by sensationalist media.

There's no thread about the election because we can't elect Obama when he's already in office.

Oh hey the Democrat won in a district that hasn't had a democrat in 120 years.

    WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?!?!?

absolutly nothing. just like the other two unimportant off-year races.

Actually Virginia's last two governors were Democrats, and has had only two Republican governors since 1982. Nice try though.

But yeah, it doesn't mean much on a national scale.
