A little background: I know its gross and all, but in college and up until about 6 months ago, i smoked cigarettes. I smoked for about 5 years. Earlier this year, i decided to quit, and have successfully gone over 6 months without a single cigarette. I used Nicorette gum for about 4 months.

Well, Friday i had a dentist appointment, and got some bad news. I had 2 cavities at the base of the two teeth where i put the gum (like you're suppose to). One of the cavities is deep enough to require them to do something that will require me getting a cap on the tooth. I've only had 1 other cavity in my life!! If you quit, dont use the gum, its bad for your teeth! This sucks!

Last time I was at the dentist I was told I had a cavity but I was only smoking for a few months at the time and since I don't eat candy or junk food I'm not really sure where I got it from. The best thing to do is always brush your teeth at least two times a day. Some people say after each meal but who has the time for that shit.

As for quitting I thought about it since I only been a smoker for a year maybe two since the prices went up but I found a shop that sells them real cheap around here.

This reminds me though I gotta go back to this dentist and get my tooth fixed fuckers are expensive.

Flossing does more than brushing, everybody should floss at least before they go to sleep (after every meal is ideal but not many people will commit to that.)

Also, if the gum was really that bad on your teeth it means you weren't brushing as often as you should have been.
