Video software?

I have been using windows movie maker for a while now, but now that I have higher res, I want to make my videos higher res as well and the highest res that my version of windows media player will encode to is 1440x900. Could anyone recommend me some similar programs that will go up to 1920x1080?

Hmm the one i found on the list that was 1920x1080 was low quality (idk if it was frame rate or something else) but it just came out big and not nice looking. I tried to make my own but rly had no clue what I was doing.
