edit: sorry for doublepost. been in spam too long.
Imagine Morgan Freeman as Spider-Man? World would asplode.
I cried when I read that. When I read "teenager" I instantly thought of crappy movies like Codey Bank or those shitty young spies shit. I can't unsee it and it hurts. ; ;
Not really looking forward to a reboot of the series already, I enjoyed the first 3 movies. Low hopes for this being good until I see/read more about it.
So Spiderman 4 is Spiderman 1 2.0
This is what I was hoping for too when it was first mentioned that the Vulture was the villain and it would take place with Peter in high school(pretty much the plot of the first episode), but it looks like the Vulture was only going to be in the now canceled Spidy 4 :\. Of course I should have seen that coming since Greg Wiseman hasn't said crap about doing a movie and to be honest if Greg isn't a writer/producer/director/something on a Spectacular Spider-man movie, I don't want it to be made.
reboot is just what this series needs. jesus christ the first 3 were so fucking awful
It's still kind of funny they are rebooting a fairly new series. I can honestly say I have no interest in seeing anymore Spiderman movies regardless of subject matter or cast.
i'm calling it now, they're gonna turn spiderman into twilight in this high school reboot
I like evil dead as much as the next guy, but still I can't say I'm sorry to see Raimi go. Each film in his trilogy was worse than the last. Furthermore, I never really felt like Mcguire got the Spiderman character. He portrayed the nerdy, unsure aspect well, but the humor was missing, though I guess that blame can be shared with the writer as well.
That said, I'd prefer Spiderman was laid to rest for a while as far as the big screen goes than another reboot.
If Maguire is out I don't care.
I say let it die for a while then return when the steaming shitpile that was Spiderman 3 is loooooooong forgotten.
I thought I also heard Fantastic Four is getting rebooted in the next couple of years as well, but for the life of me I can't remember where I saw it at.
Raimi ended up with less and less creative control as the movies progressed- which is why SM3 was a clusterfuck of what should have been SM3, 4, AND 5. A good chunk of the cast apparently said "If you don't let Raimi do the film right, we walk."
They canned Raimi when he wouldn't produce another fuckup like the previous Spidey film...so now they have to wait till 2012 and reboot the series.
Bets on it failing harder than Fantastic Four?
You cursed us! How could you!?

"ET has the latest...
There are reports that 'Twilight' hunk Robert Pattinson is leaving his fangs behind for another blockbuster franchise -- to take over the role of 'Spider-Man' now that original webslinger Tobey Maguire has announced he won't be doing the next installment. ET has the truth behind the rumors.
Sony/Columbia has denied the rumor telling ET, "Our first step is to find a director."
Earlier this week both star Tobey Maguire and director Sam Raimi both announced they would not be back for the next movie.

Holy shit! No, just fucking NO!
Who the fuck would they be trying to cater to if this casting was made!? It would be the biggest slap to any comic hero lore in contemporary history.
Hahaha fucking hahahaha.
How do you make an already horrible movie trilogy even worse? Answer.
Well in the guy's defense the actor from twilight thinks twilight is the most retarded shitfest he's ever seen and hates the series/fans with a passion. What we really need to look out for is whether or not they try to typecast him as a pale vampire bitch of a man.
