If you're a student, receiving those benefits is tough because you're probably receiving grants (like you said you were.) I think there also might be subsidized meal plans that you can take advantage. Anyways, typically the way they look at it is you have to be working over 20 hours a week and making under $11,400 per year (if living independently,) although that's if you're working. I don't really know how being unemployed affects it and your household status seems pretty fucked up. Receiving those benefits does not hurt you in any way, as far as I know. If you're in one of those programs, you get an automatic 0 on your EFC for your FAFSA (which is a good thing.) Regardless of whether you think you're eligible or not, you're required to call in and have an interview with an eligibility specialist. I'd recommend you find the website for whatever state you're in, submit an online application, and then call the eligibility specialist for the phone interview on the same day. They're only open Mondays - Thursdays, btw.
Also, those benefits are retroactive from when you apply, so apply as soon as you can. Really the entire process only takes 5 mins on the internet and a phone call and you don't have to even leave your home unless you're eligible for the benefits.
You know a lot about money, Mojo. Oh, and I miss Trinsie.
Not really related, but in the first round of Bush's welfare stimulus checks (I want to say the $600 ones?) they pro-rated the amount of money you got based on your salary- the more you made, the less you got. Baby and I weren't yet married and were still filing separately. She got her check in the mail, and it was for $5.00.
I did our taxes last weekend and we owe $4,800. Fuck this liberal commie bullshit, next time I'm voting for Palin.
I feel you on that on AV, I owe every year because I floss too hard for 11 months a year. Been that way forever QQ Last year I think we got 400 bucks back.
miz ur lucky u get anything back i owe 4 digits+ every year without a doubt (canada dur)
and just to contribute; wopa would not associate with u cream
I had to pay into state this year despite claiming 0 dependents on my W4s and my wife being off work for 2 months following the birth of our daughter.
At least I banked on federal.
I'm surprised that no one has suggested he just get a job yet, since that was the first thing I thought of.
alright, will look into it, thx
Affirmative action is alive and well, shouldn't be too big of a problem tbh.
Also something about Obama, etc.
Getting a job wouldn't be the quick fix anyways, would be a long term one, in terms of getting my own place and what not. Even if i got a check tomorrow, the power isn't coming back on. It's in my uncle's name, he has money to do it, he just doesn't want to put it back on.
Does the stimulus cover people who make a good living but qq bout not getting back a good tax return?
