Lag Problem

Every time my roomate goes on his laptop I get this really bad lag, we share the same router and things, does anyone know what the problem is?

Well he's watching movies on it, if that counts as torrenting.

Could be malware. have him run hijackthis to start.
It's likely if this only happens when he's on the network that his computer is doing something it shouldn't.

Does he have avast!? It is bad for raping connections while updating.
