My issue was that I'm an ex competitive pc gamer, who plays a lot of FPS and actually used his gkeys and LOVES backlighting. They pointed me in the right direction as far as what to get, as well as showed me there are a fairly large number of pro gamers using mechanical... Lots of people told me originally that mechanicals are too loud, or terrible for gaming, that they are specifically for typing. Boy, were they wrong. It may actually be the opposite, although they were right about them being amazing for typing.

SoF (not sof2, fuck that garbage) cod2, MW1 (not 2, fuck that garbage). I was also a practice dummy for competitive halo players if that counts haha. I wasn't a pro or anything but I did travel for competitions. Although I was ranked in the top 100 for SoF.

Most mechanicals aren't that expensive, but this one was and was really worth it. Someone pointed out to me that on a PC there are only 3 parts of the interface you directly use, and use the most. Keyboard, mouse, monitor. It makes bumping up to mechanical easier for me when it is put that way.

I have a Deck Legend Frost tactile. For all-around usage, I fell in love with it. I originally had the brown cherry's, they are amazing for gaming. But because I'm still in college and still have to write papers, and since I post too much on this forum, I needed something that was friendlier to typing. The white cherry's are perfect for both gaming and typing, great middle ground. If you type more, or game more, other options may be better. Such as blues or blacks. But I am a fan of the whites. You'll see some people on that forum are all about NKRO and many of them have multiple keyboards on their desk. I kinda do too, but one is a midi keyboard lol.

SSD for under $1/gb! It's not the cream of the crop of course, but quite a deal. Really wanted to get 2, but couldn't come up with a reason other than raid, and SSDs don't have the track record imo for going that route and doubling a fail chance.
