It's also 7200.12, which should not have any problems as the infamous 7200.11 did. (the ones that failed catastrophically)
Sweet. I have used one of these as my main drive for prolly a year and a half now no problems. Was kinda miffed that newegg's 1tb WD green drive deal this weekend turned out to be a pretty meh drive, so I'll be glad to pick this one up. Need to consolidate all my old 80g or so drives hanging around...

Is that 600 watt PSU enough to handle a RADEON HD 5850, phenom II x4 940, and 6 fans?

Videocar recommends 500, CPU 125. Not sure if it's supposed to be added or what's the calculation.

Yes, but the shellshocker deal is over. Could actually run that system on a good 400 or 450w easily, not sure how many of those have 2 6-pins though.

Edit: for the other part: With a 125w quad and a 5850 you'd be looking at about 280-300w full load. They recommend 500w for full system usage, so no need to add the cpu to it since it's already included.

So my current cheapo 500w would be all fine and dandy that's sweet.

Just to be safe, if I try it with this one and it doesn't work, all that's gonna happen is the PC will shut down, no harm will be done to any component right?

Depends, cheapo can be decent or it can be extremely bad... even some 1000w cheapo PSUs wont be reliable enough to run the rig you named (at least I wouldn't attempt it). What PSU is it exactly? Also if they don't include the proper protection (most likely wont if it's cheapo) the PSU could take out other components with it when it dies.

Edit: that is assuming that it dies, if it just can't handle it it will probably just shut down when you play a game. Still risky though depending on what it is.

I wouldn't risk it then. If it was Antec Basiq, Thermaltake, BFG, new Rosewills or some other "cheap" but decent quality PSU then it would probably be fine.

Edit: Quickly looked at Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817341022 $45 after MIR
Modular, 80+ certified, Fata1ity branding so you can get more FPS while gayman!! (PSU is pretty good so ignore it lol), etc

If I was in the market for a decent cheapish PSU I'd probably buy that.

Edit 2: Apparently the promo code ends today. Just watch the Newegg newsletters, generally they have some good deals on PSUs.

Edit 3!:Your next post is 1000 posts. lol
