Know it's still 2 months out, but trying to set aside some cash for a 2TB SSD for my fossil PC for Black Friday/Cyber Monday. I know it's SATA 2 compatible, though looking up the mobo (Asus P5N-D) had it iffy/unknown on 3. Otherwise, it sounded like if it was limited 2, 3 would still be compatible, just not as great. And it's not like if I manage to update to a better tower eventually, I couldn't port this over.

That said, is there a particular place I should try to keep an eye out for a good deal? I'm hoping for something that'll be under $150, but I could even go up to $200 if it's something like even more space or noteworthy speed despite my potential limitations. Figure Amazon or Newegg will be the usual choices, but am pretty out of the loop on this stuff lately.

I watch https://deals.kinja.com for deals but its nothing specific. They usually post easy to find deals like amazon gold box or what have you. Memory goes on sale pretty often though.

    Edit: Newegg

Board only has one PCI-E slot, which is currently occupied by my video card. Like I said, it's ancient and needs to be SATA in this case.

Amazon warehouse deals is giving an extra 20% off at checkout. Not sure how long it's going on for so get what you can when you can if you are in need.

EVGA GTX 980 TI FTW b-stock - $170. If I was in the market for a GPU I'd buy this right away.

    Intel 660p Series M.2 2280 1TB PCIe NVMe 3.0 x4 3D2, QLC - $82.99 on Newegg

Yes or no? I see people saying hold out for 2TB, but I'm not looking to break the bank re: budget build in other thread.

EDIT: I see some people saying it's loud which is odd to me.

Looks like a good deal. I've never even seen or heard of a m.2 drive being loud so I'd take that with a grain of salt. I mean, is a person really going to hear a m.2 drive over multiple case fans, their GPU, and if they have any mechanical drives installed?

    This was my thinking.

It's a solid state drive. How are you hearing that?

For comparison, an Inland Premium (Microcenter brand) 1TB is $100. I'm not sure how speeds on these work, but other than the "660p" bit on the Intel this looks pretty much the same.

It's good if price is your main concern. QLC SSDs are slower with lower durability, but still likely to be fine for typical home use. Price is the entire point of 'em, and they've been notably cheaper since they came out.

    Hey Isi!

Yeah, I'm looking to make a budget build. I have plenty of secondary storage and a 256GB Samsung SSD I can reformat to use as my boot drive, so this would hold games and things.

Secondary drives are HDDs I've had for a while now. One is a 2TB and the other is a 500GB that are in my current PC. The SSD is also my boot/main drive for my current PC.

The only issue with the 660p is that as it gets full that type of drive will see a bigger slowdown than other types of flash. That being said, I'm likely picking one up myself.

Anyone got recommendations for monitors to look for? I'm interested in buying a second monitor and I'm sure other people are as well. I'm not as tech savvy about it so figure I'd ask.

Gigabyte RTX 2070 Gaming OC Refurb - $325 + tax. 90 day warranty. So tempting to pull the trigger. Refurb and warranty period doesn't bother me. If I was to purchase I'd beat the fuck out of the card for a week. If it's fine, it will most likely be fine. If not, return.

I'm running a MSI Vega 56 Air Boost right now. My issue is more of a FWP if anything because my issue is this thing can get LOUD. I haven't tinkered with it to see if an undervolt and what not will fix. I'm just considering how a non reference, more powerful card is looking a lot more attractive right now to power 2560x1440 @144hz.
