    I think that the amount of EXP you get goes down as the quality of the item goes up.

    Those numbers should accurately show the difference in their effectiveness, at least. But yeah, they shouldn't be used to figure out exactly how many you'll need when upgrading.

    Anyone done this yet? Does it require a maxed ultimate weapon, or just the weapon period?

    Yeah, gotta be star level, I tried at a few stages, 25, 50, 75 and 99, only got 3 Trapez' from star.

    I'm probably retarded but this states that you need 6 traps to make one weapon but only get 3 in dismantling? How is that beneficial?

    6 to make weapons for each characters.
    Creating a ultimate weapon needs only 1 trap.

    Up until now we've been comparing exp/gil but the real comparison should be item/item since the exp varies depending on what you're upgrading. The ratios are meaningless without relativity.
    Each weapon has a hidden 'rank' that influences the exp gain; higher rank # = lower exp

    iirc all the T1 weapons are Rank 1, the T2s are 3~5, and the T3s are all 11.

    So the only point where relativity matters is the T2 and even then it doesn't matter a lot, the exp reduction is across the board I'm pretty sure.

    Since I'm very bored, I decided to play with this. I haven't completed the game yet, but I'm near enough that I have access to just about everything I need for now.

    From what I've gathered so far, there are 5 different EXP 'ranks', and whenever you upgrade a weapon, it goes up by 2 ranks unless it hits the max of 5. Tier 1 weapons are all rank 1-4, mostly falling in 1 and 2.

    A lot of stuff missing, but I felt the pattern was strong enough that I can fill it in later if need be.

    Long story short, Ultracompact Reactor is 'always' the best exp/gil ratio, but because of going over the cap, you may want to just use Superconducters (or Superchargers, but I didn't have any to test with) on your tier 1's. Once I get a Trapezohedron of my own to start making Ultimates, I can test if they get a new rank of their own or not.

    Also, fun fact, regardless of how much exp your tier 1 needs to level up, all Ultimates have the exact same exp count to go from tier 1 to tier 3 star, per character. So the only thing that makes one any more expensive than the other is the exp rank curve that it starts on.

    Lightning = 1767447
    Sazh = 2022273
    Snow = 1717353
    Hope = 1555092
    Vanille = 1864368
    Fang = 1769625

    So Fang's spear will cost you slightly less to do the duping trick than Vanille's staff.

    Strat guide says there are 11 exp ranks. 1-11, higher rank the lower exp value from items.

    All final weapons, stage3 t3 whatever, are rank 11. Whereas the stage 2's vary from 4-10. T1's are 2-6. However for weapons being that there is no Rank1 I guess you can assume there are only 10 ranks for them.

    Yeah if youve gotten all 3 genji gloves you can actually upgrade the genji glove to level 2 witch is max and then dismantle it for a easy trap. if you guys are looking for the exact amount of exp it takes to max things head over to gamefaqs because PringerOtaku has a guide for dismantling and upgrading that works well. Hope this helps

    Funny that this was bumped.. I didn't know the Genji Glove trick and I had just started farming away on gil to buy my first trap, so this will make things quite a bit easier.

    Actually thanks. Been playing recently and was farming traps from Adamantoise using Death. Shit takes forever.

    Edit: Just as I post that I got a trap. lol. Time to max out malboro rod and break it into 3 traps.
