I like the idea of a female doctor but I'd rather have Olivia Coleman if Chibnal was grabbing from the actor pool from Broadchurch. I can only see her as the grieving mother...
Also GallifreyBase as is going nuclear right now lol

Well, Whittaker has balls of steel, I'll tell you that much.
I hope she does well.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/doctorwho...5-eb02ca44552a11) What are you going to wear?
Don’t know yet.
12) Is that your costume in the filmed sequence which introduced you as the new Doctor?
No.
13) Have any of the other Doctors given you advice?
Well they can’t because they haven’t known until now, but I’m certainly expecting a couple of calls – I’ve got a couple of mates in there. I’m mates with a companion [Arthur Darvill], I’m mates with a trio of Doctors. I know Matt Smith, Chris Eccleston and obviously David Tennant. Oh! And let’s throw in David Bradley! Four Doctors! So I’m hoping I get some calls of advice.
Should be fun.
During the ShowBiz Beat this morning on KROQ, Ralph Garmin said Pearl Mackie will be returning as Jodie's companion.
Ralph was wrong. Pearl confirms she's leaving after the Xmas special.
New Doctor, Companion, and showrunner next year.
Series (or season) 11 of Doctor Who will have a few big changes with Jodie as the new Doctor.
The Doctor is getting a new Sonic (which I find weird since Capaldi had a new sonic all of one season), new Tardis interior, and the biggest news which was to be expected with Chibnall at the helm which is having the episodes clock in at 1 hour instead of 45 minutes. This also reduces the episode count from 13 down to 10. If you don't know already, Chibnall tends to favor long arcing stories with things unresolved until the final episode leaving each episode to end on a mini cliffhanger.
I have no objections

It's basically a throwback to previous styles and I am guessing not knowing how to dress as a woman for the first time???
Never thought they'd top Colin Baker's outfit.
This will be the first Christmas special I haven't been able to watch live on iPlayer in years. feelsbadman
Thank god for VPN, watched it on BBC's website.
Holy motherfucking feels, man.
Hmm, I'd be curious if there was a trick to that? iPlayer recognized I was on a VPN and denied me access for that specific reason, even when I was logged in with a valid account.
As for the episode itself, what a fantastic coda to an amazing doctor. I love that it wasn't some over-the-top end of the world thing, just a good story about the nature of things. I think I'm a bigger Capaldi fan than most, and I do look forward to what Jodie will bring, but this run was truly something special.
Edit: the music was amazing. fan-fucking-tastic. "Breaking the Wall' is iconic far beyond anything else for me.
Never has my family been so excited to watch a man turn into a woman. Loved the episode and now I have the sads...but Jodie is going to be excellent.
I'll miss Peter Capaldi, later season or seasons with him got quite good. But yeah, I'll just be happy with new episodes again, been a long wait between episodes!
Great sendoff for Capaldi there. Is there any indication when in 2018 the new episodes will begin?
Excellent episode. Never loved Capaldi and I'm not sad to see him go. Not that he was ever bad, just not my cup of tea. Excited for a new doctor!
It was also the last episode for long time Doctor Who composer Murray Gold which is why you heard a lot of specific theme music being played throughout the episode like Rose's Bad Wolf.
The new season starts sometime around September 2018 with 10 episodes clocking in at 50 minutes each. Also looks like 3 companions/friends instead of just one.
