That’s what I mean, after the twist it took the polish off a somewhat decent episode. Just seemed a bit wasteful

Those lasers though... It looks like the production value dropped... by millions of dollars.
The writing is absolutely abysmal, there is no arc like was promised which is a damn shame honestly, and it seems like every week they're trying to have some sort of cringe-esque lesson for the viewer. Oh and what's with these super weird final scenes every episode??
I'm not really sure where BBC think this series is going, but it isn't looking good.
I have no idea what Chibnall is doing with this season... but it's not good.
That bad? I hopped off around Ep4 or 5 because it wasn't great writing and didn't feel like Doctor Who. The sad part is I like the new Doctor, just the writing was awful.
Saw that trailer earlier and realized I don't think I ever went back to watch last season. Probably got through about 3 or so episodes but then it just got backlogged and I never bothered. Maybe I'll do that over the holidays.
seems everyone Ive talked to stopped watching it 3 or so episodes in
Series 12 starts with a New Years 2 parter titled "Spyfall." Trailer was p much the previous one with like 2 or 3 new shots.
And I watched Series 11 for completion sake. Sadly nothing memorable.
Very interesting episode. Yay or Nay?
I am liking this season so far, I could not finish last season.
I like it better than the last season, which in my opinion wouldn't have missed anything if you skipped it.
Chibnall is invoking his version of the Cartmell Master Plan and it is working. It's what the series has needed because everything about the Doctor has been too familiar and we need some mystery again. Now as far as Ruth goes
Spoiler: show
Well that certainly went... somewhere.

Didn't love it, didn't hate it, thought it was fairly interesting.
In the 80’s Cartmell was trying to do something similar and I think there was radio series that hinted at this direction:

Oh nice.
I didn't catch up over the holidays like I said I might do a year ago today, but this might give me enough motivation. I found a few months ago that HBO Max has all the seasons, but I kept getting distracted/forgetting I had started.
New Years special is today for anyone who didn't realize.
Jodie Whittaker is leaving after this new season ends which is supposed to air in the fall. Now we shall begin the endless months of speculation as to who will take on the role for the 14th incarnation.
I like her as the Doctor, she has good energy. I just feel like the same thing that happened with the last Doctor was the writing was pure shit. The constant use of buzzwords and the extreme amount of social topic episodes was a bit too much and preachy IMO.
