(Matt Smith)
Ending months of speculation, actor Matt Smith was named the Eleventh Doctor earlier this year. Head writer and executive producer Steven Moffat says, "The Doctor is a very special part, and it takes a very special actor to play him. You need to be old and young at the same time, a boffin, and an action hero - a cheeky schoolboy and the wise old man of the universe. As soon as Matt walked through the door and blew us away with a bold and brand new take on the Time Lord, we knew we had our man. 2010 is a long time away but rest assured the Eleventh Doctor is coming - and the universe has never been so safe."
An accomplished theater actor, Smith appeared in West End productions of Swimming with Sharks and That Face. On television, he appeared as Jim Taylor in BBC productions of The Ruby in the Smoke and The Shadow in the North. His big break came with the role of Danny Foster in the BBC's political drama, Party Animals. He has also guest-starred in an episode of Secret Diary of a Call Girl, in which he acted opposite Billie Piper (Doctor Who's Rose Tyler).
Amy Pond
(Karen Gillan)
Karen Gillan joins the new season of Doctor Who as new companion Amy Pond. Head writer and executive producer Steven Moffat says, "We saw some amazing actresses for this part, but when Karen came through the door the game was up. [She's] funny and clever and gorgeous and sexy. Or Scottish, which is the quick way of saying it. A generation of little girls will want to be her. And a generation of little boys will want them to be her too."
The Scottish-born actress previously appeared in the UK sketch comedy The Kevin Bishop Show and the drama Stacked. She also appeared as a Soothsayer in the Doctor Who episode, "The Fires of Pompeii."

I haven't seen much except that the trailer shows more weeping angels (awesome) but what I'm really, really, really still hoping for is some expansion on the River Song arc from Season 4 (always bugged me how they lost Tennant before anymore info on his personal timeline with her was given)
At first I couldn't stand the new guy but as I see more and more of him his mannerisms seem to fit the bill fairly well. Here's hoping he doesn't completely fuck it up.
