The second season was a bit slow. I wasn't a huge fan until the third season or so. David Tennant was probably my favorite doctor. The writing in that season was really well done.

Looks like a lot of the early episodes which were lost, some of which only aired once, have been found. Nice to see that a show with such a long history has filled a missing gap.

didn't it have something to do with the way the reels were stored, caught fire, and we're the only known copies out there?

The tapes were destroyed back in the day because nobody had figured out the idea of reruns. They were taking up space so they just..tossed them. Usually what we're getting now are ones from outside the UK that were distributed for other markets and survived somehow.
