There should be no complaints about 9 marvel movies coming. This is the most originality in Hollywood at the moment.

Stellan Skarsgård will reprise his role of Dr. Selvig from Thor for Joss Whedon's The Avengers according to Swedish newspaper Expressen.se.

    Here's the translation:

"The Avengers" is the dream team of superheroes, a group consisting of among others Iron Man, the Hulk, Captain America and Thor. The film is planned to premier in 3D in May of next year. Stellan Skarsgård confirms to TT Spektra that he will play the same role as in the upcoming "Thor": Doctor Selvig. Not much is yet known about the character apart from that Selvig is a scientist in New Mexico."

I read the Skrulls are supposed to be 'reptilian' in the Avengers movie. Don't know if want. Gimme my green dudes with ribbed chins and vulcan ears.

If they do the Skrulls, can they do Super Skrull or are his powers owned by Fox?

lots of "dont know if want" about this movie so far, but im looking at it quite pessimistically because these Marvel Studio movies are pretty bad so far

Sorry what? Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Upcoming Thor and Captain America? All the released ones were pretty good, and Cap + Thor look tight as hell.

Are you mixing up Ghost Rider, X-Men, FF with Marvel Studios? While it's true they were involved, but Columbia & Fox did those abominations. Marvel really didn't have as much say as they do now because they don't own the rights to the movies. Hopefully when all the rights are up, Marvel will buy them back.

Marvel Studio has made 3 movies so far, iron man 1&2 and incredible hulk, 2 out of 3 were pretty bad.
the trailers for thor and cpt. america don't fill me with enthusiasm nor does loki & cosmic cube.

Mark Ruffalo is going places. Having received Oscar and BAFTA nominations for The Kids Are All Right, he’s also landed a starring role in Joss Whedon’s epic comic adap The Avengers.

Total Film caught up with the indie favourite to find out why he’s so awesome – and just how excited he is for The Avengers.

First, though, we have to congratulate him on those Kids award nominations. “Thanks. It means a lot,” Ruffalo smiles, ever the gent. “And with this film, I read it and I really got a kick out of it.

“I laughed a lot and I thought it captured something that was really honest about a family. It is a slightly different kind of family.

“I decided it captured something about people in a long relationship, with kids that are leaving and fighting for their independence as they become teenagers. And I just thought the part of Paul was a fun ride to take a stab at.”

Ruffalo’s role in The Avengers is the complete antithesis to Paul, as he takes on the iconic part of Dr Bruce Banner aka The Hulk.

But Ruffalo reveals that any future stand-alone Hulk films would entirely depend on the success of The Avengers. “They sort of set up several pictures at once, but a lot is riding on this first one,” he says.

“There will probably be a couple more Avengers movies, which would be fun to do. I don’t know if they will ever do another Hulk. How old is The Hulk meant to be? Six years from now I will be in my 50s!”

How about getting behind the camera on something as big as The Avengers? “I like where the genre has gone, especially with Robert Downey,” Ruffalo admits. “There’s definitely a shift and when you look at people like Robert in Iron Man, he adds such humanity to it and I am interested in that.

“I’d like a thriller like a Shining, or Rosemary’s Baby, which has all of the hallmarks of great acting and great character cinema, but also it delivers on the thrill and the excitement.

“I see the comic book genre moving that way. I think it will be cool to try my hand at something like that eventually. They are giving movies to first-time directors who are making that kind of movie and I know I have something to offer.”

When "How I Met Your Mother" star Cobie Smulders was confirmed as Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) sidekick and S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill for Joss Whedon's upcoming adaption of "The Avengers," it's safe to say the heart of the Whedon-verse skipped a beat.

(Smulders, after all, was the first choice for Whedon's shelved "Wonder Woman" project.)

Zap2it spoke with Smulders during production of the Season 6 finale of "HIMYM," and what she could reveal about her upcoming role was very costume-centric.

"We start in April, which is like... tomorrow," Smulders says. "I literally leave here and I go to Albuquerque, New Mexico, to shoot some scenes in a catsuit."

No, you'll likely never see her sporting those magical bracelets, but at least she'll make it to the big screen in some type of skin-tight superhero regalia.*

"I've tried on portions of the catsuit," says Smulders, "[and] I've seen conceptual drawings of what they want it to be. It's fascinating to me. I feel like wardrobe becomes very creative on these types of movies because they literally spend weeks designing just the pants or the emblem. It's such an all-consuming process, so I'm excited to see how it all turns out."

After formally announcing The Avengers at last year's San Diego Comic Con with the main cast member's introductions and a teaser trailer, very little news about the film has been disclosed. Fans of the upcoming film have dealt with nonstop speculation as to who The Avengers will face in the upcoming film -- which is currently filming in New York, New Mexico and Los Angeles.

Mark Ruffalo recently stated that his character, Bruce Banner and his alter ego The Hulk, will be one of the films heroes and not its villain. Now, Tom Hiddleston has revealed that Loki -- the God of Mischief and central antagonist in this summer's Thor film -- will not be facing off against The Avengers in the summer of 2012 either.

Speaking with fans at the KAPOW convention in London today, Hiddleston said he is not slated to be making an appearance in The Avengers, contrary to recent rumblings Loki will be the focus of the superhero film's troubles. Marvel has yet to confirm or deny that the alien race The Skrulls, who have been rumored to be making their cinematic debut in the film for close to a year now, will be included. Though at this point it seems more likely than ever the shape-shifting invaders will have a place in the story.

The Avengers is scheduled to hit theaters on May 4th, 2012, and will unite Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders), Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) for the first time in cinematic history.
