    Arena Football League 2010 Season

Well this past weekend was the start of the new Arena Football League Season. Don't know how much people here care, but I thought I would at least start a thread. Here is a wrapup of week one:

Chicago 61, Iowa 43: Chicago harassed Iowa on defense forcing 6 turnovers. Iowa could never recover from back QB play by Brian Villanueva.

Milwaukee 74, Spokane 62: Milwaukee played a near flawless offensive game. Chris Greisen at one point had 23 straight completions.

Bossier-Shreveport 54, Alabama 48: Controversial outcome based on an out of bounds call. Alabama should never had let it be so close. Both teams need to improve to compete.

Arizona 61, Cleveland 56: Cleveland blew a 21 point lead at halftime. Arizona closed the lead with strong special teams play and forcing Cleveland QB John Dutton to throw four interceptions.

Tulsa 69, Tampa Bay 58: It's official, Justin Allgood can play. Allgood finished with 8 TDs and 0 interceptions, yielding a 133.6 passer rating (2nd in the league). Tampa just could not stop the Tulsa offense.

Jacksonville 54, Oklahoma City 38: Jacksonville looked like the expansion team they are. Both teams had a shakey start but Jacksonville was a much better team. The only high point for OKC was that they were able to take Jacksonville QB Aaron Garcia out of the game... for a few plays.

    Players of the Week:

Offensive Player of the Week: Chris Greisen (QB Milwaukee) 30 of 36 for 9 TDs and 0 INTs, yielding a 144.1 passer rating.

Defensive Player of the Week: DeJuan Alfonzo (LB Chicago) 1 INT returned for a TD, large reason Rush toppled the Barnstormers.

    Week 2 Matchups:

    Friday April 9th:

Cleveland Gladiators at Chicago Rush (NFL Network 8PM EST)
    Jacksonville Sharks at Alabama Vipers
    Spokane Shock at Utah Blaze

    Saturday April 10th:

    Dallas Vigilantes at Tulsa Talons
    Orlando Predators at Bossier-Shreveport Battlewings

I realize this isn't really contributing, but I thought the Arena Football league went bankrupt?

The NFL took it over and decided to resurrect it. Incidentally the AFL's last champion, the Philadelphia Soul, don't exist right now, though I've heard that the NFL's talking to Jon Bon Jovi about restarting the franchise.

That explains why Bon Jovi wasn't returning any of Dan Snyder's calls asking him to trade the Soul's quarterback.

Actually the NFL is just set up to air one game a week and some help with training officials. Other than that the NFL has no association. This incarnation of the AFL was developed by former owners of af2 franchises who, along with some former AFL owners, formed a new league and bought the AFL's assets in the bankruptcy proceedings.

I watch LFL, though I don't remember the scores or what happens during the game.

I like the UFL and what it has to offer, fuck the bullshit. The AFL I will watch on occasion, the 50 yard field and iron-man football isn't as appealing to me as a structured game. If I wanted that on a consistent basis I'd watch old footage of the XFL.

AFL: It's like NFL Blitz in real life, but not even remotely as awesome.

Man after Carolina signed Rod Smart (aka He Hate Me) I bought his jersey and met him out a few times, dude is mad cool. Im glad the XFL helped people like him because he ended up being in Carolina for 4 seasons iirc and still lives here and works with the Panthers organization and does charity work around town.

He was my favorite player in the XFL hands down.

The UFL has a lot of promise, so long as the NFL keeps its paws out of it. Right now it's just serving as a minor league for the NFL, and last season as a podium for J.P. Losman to shock and awe the world while he was absent from the big leagues. The UFL also has my favorite overtime rules that I wish the NFL had done instead.

I used to go to Georgia Force games randomly(Chris Greisen represent!) and they were fun as hell. Oh and "He Hate Me" was by far the best XFL name, I remember changing Rod Smart in my Madden games so He Hate Me would be on his jersey.

Alabama defeated Jacksonville 63-49 after a 35-0 run after getting down 35-14.
