Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Announcement Coming Soon?
Leaker says "multiple sources" confirm an announcement could be coming in May.
Consider this story with a very large grain of salt...and perhaps even a small dose of foolish wishful thinking. According to the website Team Spooky (via Kotaku), Capcom is gearing up to announce Marvel vs. Capcom 3 this May.
The only thing the leaker, "Henaki," has to go on is a small mention of "multiple sources" confirming the planned announcement, so the veracity certainly seems a bit sketchy. But then again, there's this: Henaki is the same person who last summer leaked the full roster of Super Street Fighter 4 characters, and was dead on the money. So he's certainly proven correct about big Capcom leaks before.
There's also the small business of Ryota Niitsuma, the producer of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, saying earlier this year that "if sales are really good [for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars] then you can see an announcement [of a new Vs. title] within this year."
Also note that when the announcement came for Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network last year, Capcom's Seth Killian said that while it didn't include any deal to make Marvel vs. Capcom 3, he hoped it could open that possibility in the future. "What we're hoping is that if people get really juiced about this title, and we can show Marvel that there's a lot of heat behind this, then they'll open up the door for us to do something with '3,' which is something we'd love to do," Killian said.
So is that exactly what happened here? Looks like we'll have to wait until May (or maybe even as soon as Capcom's big news event in Hawaii next week?) to find out.
