I don't think he's being sarcastic. The triangle goes both ways this time (Grass > Water > Fire > Grass, Fighting < Psychic < Dark < Fighting) which is, you know, kind of interesting.
Anyway the grass starter is the only one I really like, I'm indifferent about the other 2.
Watch third stage of the fire type will be warthog...
...
I'm totally starting with the fire type now...
He shall be called.... Pumbah.

From the random image thread:
Spoiler: show
The grass-type's face is just amazing. So smug.
Fuck the fire type. I already have my favorite fire/dark type in Houndoom. Will I go with the otter or anteater..
Also, pig's face needs shopping with the big, mega-smile smiley.

Fire/Dark starter could be epic if piggy gets good HP and defenses. Kinda worried that the anteater is just gonna be Breeloom v2.0, which is alright, but kinda boring. Water type is gonna be crap if it has low speed- calling it right now.
Yeah, Starmie will run rings around it in that case, especially since it's got Rapid Spin to let you drop it in for anti-Spikes work. Part of the reason I was expecting Fire/Psy rather than Water/Psy- you've got a topnotch Pokemon in that dual-typing as is.
Come to think of it, there's three excellent Pokemon for those- Houndoom, Starmie, and Breeloom respectively - that they'll have to equal or exceed to really prosper. (Unless B/W actually has none of them and they're not tradebait to drop into the game.)
Still, anything comparable to the above three makes a respectable starter you wouldn't feel crappy about bringing to fight your friends.

Smugleaf is Bro Tier.
Still can't unsee Excalibur from that grass type.
And for good reason... http://images.4chan.org/a/src/1273694442634.png
This. I wasn't saying it's a bad thing. I was simply commenting that everyone is going to have 1 weakness and 1 strength against the other 2 types, which is kind of cool. The last gen had multiple types but it didn't have the types matched up to give everyone 1 advantage over the others.
hahahahahahah
I think this might be the first generation of games where I don't pick the water type...unless he has an awesome looking final evolution I guess. :D
