Linkshell friend of mine recently got hacked. Security token, no one else had his accnt password. Same old story.
lol
Not to sound to newbish, but after reading these responses I do have a question: With a Security Token, just how vulnerable are accounts to getting hacked and what additional security can we put on our accounts to protect them.
I got hacked about two years ago and I swear, never again
The most a security token will protect you from are traditional key loggers, and your 'friends' with your account password (prior to you adding the token) trying to make use of your account without your knowledge.
What it won't stop are keyloggers that are built specifically for hijacking your security token's current active password. (the kind that makes POL crash upon you trying to enter your token details for example)
My advice is, don't be stupid, use Ad-Block/NoScript, don't give out your fucking password, don't download 3rd-party tools for FFXI, and you'll be fine. Security token is just another layer of security, but nothing is bullet-proof. (but hey, doubled inventory is still nice to have >.>)
you can lock this thread whoever, not the information i was looking for.
