You need to click on the chest you want to try. You can't attack it until it changes to a mimic.

IIRC, it hits the chest you targeted first, then the others, so it counts as opening the targeted chest. An obvious tactic like that wouldn't be left as an auto-win by the developers. Common sense?

Back in the day, we used to Manaburn this BCNM fight. Sometimes you get lucky and hit the correct chest. If not the person with the most hate gets drawn in, and everyone else casts another big spell and that would usually kill the chest. Win win.
