also on an unrelated note, has anyone stood up mid synth, not see the results and then not be able to move or do anything because the game tells you that you can't do that mid synth?

Ya, doesnt seem to affect the outcome of the synth, just wait a few seconds for the synth to finish like normal and carry on.
