I've tried at least 200 different beers. Wheat beer isn't happening. I've given it many chances, this isn't an uneducated or untested opinion. There is something fundamentally wrong with wheat beers to me.

Yea I've been helping out my Dad at World of Beer (and its been on his tab this summer lol) to get his numbers up, they have a bunch of rewards at like 50, 100, 250, 500. 500 is like a big catered party they throw for you or something haha, will take a while for that though. Been like 9 months and we are up to 200ish at WoB. I've prolly contributed 60 or so, haven't been drinking a ton this summer.
They actually started this promotion though (I think its at all of the WoB, i hope it is) for half off beers for students on like wednesdays...that would make it cheap. 10% beer for $3? Thats a great deal. WoB is a great place, they change the taps constantly. Sometimes I'm kinda amazed at how many different kegs they get their hands on, its pretty awesome. Still only in FL, but I know they are growing very quickly.
Wow shit, the things I would do for half priced good beer around here
I don't drink much beer, but my favorite would be Sprecher's Belgian Dubbel. Locally brewed here, Milwaukee WI, for their 25th anniversary.
since i seem to have misplaced my post in which i expressed my esteem for this beer, i will post in this thread that the bruery's coton is great stuff. here's beer porn for it if i can find it on google after i type this sentence:
http://blogs.laweekly.com/squidink/Coton.jpg
porn fail. what the fuck was i saying... if the bruery distributes to your town, pay the extra few dollars for one of their bottles. you won't regret it. saison rue is a particular favorite of mine.
p.s. disappointed with my google search, i first took a pic of me w/o pants pretending my empty bottle of coton was my penis. i then tried some pics with my heihachi mishima doll pretending the bottle of coton was his penis. then i sort of sobered up, and now i'm going to go watch kingscrusher youtube chess videos. also, i'm going to masturbate while i think about you.
Hey hey, yeah yeah,

No, I'm kidding, it's fucking piss beer. Do not drink it.
Ever.
Costco puts out a multipack of beer that's quite affordable at around 75c a bottle, their "Kirkland" brand. Beats the hell out of most of lower priced "premium" beer out there. I recommend giving it a shot if you like decent beer but are on a budget.
How is this on page 2? Keep it going guys! Drinking some Dead Guy Ale from Rogue. This stuff is delicious
Sorry for the bad pic, it's from my cell

Also, for the two in Alabama, you can go to:
Good People in Birmingham
Montgomery Brewing Company in Montgomery
Olde Towne Brewing Co. in Huntsville
Or Straight to Ale in Huntsville.
There might be more, that's all BA listed
I'm very interested in the banana beer mentioned in this thread.

I can say that I Have never seen 50% of the beers being posted here. If I'm just hangin out with some buddies at home and we're drinkin beer to get a good buzz goin, then for me its Busch (lolbusch). Some people laugh at me but I just like the damn stuff! However If I'm getting home from work or whatnot and just relaxing I love me some

Also anyone notice all the fuckin teens/20somethings fratbros drinking PBR? It's like they watched Gran Torino and think that drinkin it makes them cool like Clint.
Also also props to the person who posted schlafly. I live 15 mins away from that brewery in st. louis and they got some damn good beer. If you've been to the Tap Room they have some awesome food too. Beer bread there is the best I've had, same with beef stew. If you're ever in St. Louis make sure you stop there to eat. For dessert get the sticky toffee pudding its a threesome in your mouth.
So, I like Bud light, and bud light lime, corona.... light beers. Anyone have any recommendations like those that aren't well known?
P.S.
STICKS AND STONES MAY BREAK MY BONES BUT WORDS WILL NEVER HURT ME
.....inb4 pussy drinks.
When you say light beers, do you mean light tasting or light on calories?
Bud light lime tastes like shit to me. Its like a flat sprite thats been sitting in a basement for 9 years.
There really aren't "rare" or underground light beers. Microbreweries don't make light beers for the most part, so there aren't craft light beers. Why? Because light beers are basically engineered to taste as close to water as possible so they are easy to drink. If taste is pretty much secondary to a beer being easy to drink, then there really isn't a need for anything outside of the typical well known light beers.
I guess you can go after some lagers, pilsners, cervezas...Stella is a popular lager, I kind of liked Tsing Tao which is a Chinese pilsner that you can generally find in a lot of stores. Pretty much all major German brewers like Hofbrau have a standard lager. Yingling is pretty popular, although to me it doesn't really taste anything like a lager.
Honestly, if you like the taste of Bud Light...there really isn't a "step up" from it or variety in the same category. Its not like IPAs, Stouts, Wheat beers, etc where there is a ton of experimenting and room for creativity going on. The very definition of light beers means there is very little room to change the taste. You have to venture into other kinds of beers and be willing to work with your palate.
Solid advice. Stella is probably the best known belgian beer abroad, but it (and other lagers like it like Jupiler and Maes) are pretty much the standard for beer here, what you get when just ordering a pint at a bar. Carlsberg is something you can get pretty much anywhere in the world that's also pretty decent. Avoid Heineken though, it's also widely available I think, but it's not very good imho.I guess you can go after some lagers, pilsners, cervezas...Stella is a popular lager, I kind of liked Tsing Tao which is a Chinese pilsner that you can generally find in a lot of stores. Other than lagers, wheat beer is also a pretty mellow introduction when you start drinking proper beers. I started drinking with Hoegaarden, but I haven't enjoyed it as much the last years. Not sure if my tastes changed, or if the beer itself did.
Somewhat related: Anyone here had the chance to try Vedett Extra Blond? It's a 'premium' lager from Moortgat, the brewery that brews Duvel, even comes in the same bottle. There's also a wheat beer, Vedett Extra White. I have the lager quite often, and like it a lot, but I haven't come across the wheat beer yet.

(they have a campaign where people send in a picture, you can order a case with the picture on it, and it gets mingled into the randomly distributed bottles too, hence the label)
