Also, anything in a cask.
Also, anything in a cask.
Has the exact same alcohol content as any other light beer on the market. It actually has more then a few, such as Amstel, Coors, etc. The thing about Clear is that it has less carbs, making it less heavy, making it a smoother drink. But it's a light beer, so you have to compare it to other light beers. It's pretty much impossible to immediately get tanked off of a light beer... That's why it's a light beer.
You want less carbs stop drinking liquid bread and start drinking water.
These are the ones I drink the most, and truly enjoy (not in a particular order, choice depends on mood, company, food...):

Delirium is a good beer, but I've found that for the price you can usually get a better beer. Definitely better than most though
So the lesson I seem to be coming away with here is that if I wanted to find out what real beer tastes like, I should look for Killians, Amberbock, Blue Moon, or Fat Tire?
Only ever had sam adams and sam adams light, they were vile. Haven't really attempted anything since, as the person who suggested them said that based on my description of why it was so terrible (bitter to the point of tasting like acid, taste wasn't easily washed out by water) I won't be able to get away from that same effect in anything else. True/False?
(Sidenote: I don't like coffee either, or sparkling water, because of the powerful bitter flavor they carry. I do like dark and/or heavy cacao based chocolates though, and I've had various mixed drinks, so it's not the alcohol that turns me off I think, if that helps make any sense of my taste preferences)
for those interested in their calorie intake and the alcohol content of their favorite beverage.....

Delirium <3
honestly, it's all going to boil down to your personal preference. of those 4, i prefer killian's and fat tire over the other 2. however, blue moon tastes a little bit like oranges from my experience. you may or may not like that, i personally don't care for it much. never tried amberbock so won't comment on it lol
if you find you don't like the taste of any of those, you may wanna try heinekin or some light beers like coors light or bud light. they hardly have any taste to them and will essentially do the same thing as other beers, despite the slightly lower alcohol content in some of them.
Go to your local Total Wine, or whatever beer shop you have, and ask them what Belgium Dubbel, Tripels, or Quadruples they have (URL'd those to give a better discription). Dubbels are going to be the lightest, and Quadruples the heaviest, with Tripels being in the middle. They are not normally going to be your bitter-type beer, which is why I think you'll like this. You might want to start out with a Dubbel or Tripel if you don't know what to expect, because these things are NOT anything like your American type beers, and are a lot heavier and deeper with flavor. I would personally recommend starting out with a Tripel, because they have a nice, deep, flavor, but not quite as heavy as the Quadruple, but doesn't feel light and as though there is something missing as I find a lot of Dubbels have.
I hate coffee too, btw
He said what real beer tastes like lol.
Ditto for comments on Delirium Tremens. Good beer, but god damn is it expensive. Nice to have one every now and then though.
Continue to be amazed by how many people like Blue Moon and Hoegaarden. Also, Heineken and Corona are just awful. I can force myself to begrudgingly down a Corona light, but reg Corona tastes like piss.
If I am gunna drink a Mexican beer, I tend to grab

I forgot to mention~
Super Chavelas (at a local taqueria)
Modelo (light or dark, your choice)
Tequila (not sure which exactly, not bad either way)
Lime Juice
Salted & frosty glass.
Good lord those fuck me up.
A little bitter for my taste, but only slightly. A solid beer with good strong flavor

Probably one of the most unique I've had. Liquid smoke in a bottle. Used the style as my gamer tag for awhile until I got fed up with being spoken to in German.
Best for summer, some good-great weizens and wits:

Should say on the box/bottle how it's pronounced (not how you think it is)

Probably the best domestic beer I've had.
Seriously, go look up "Trappist" beer. They are easily some of the best in the world. Good all year round.

"Gay" beer. Fuck it, drink it anyway. Good during the spring and summer.

I don't really like porters and stouts, but that's what you'd want to have during the winter months. I prefer port wine during the winter, though.
This thread has been kinda funny. Seeing a lot of people liking the cheap beers the best. You guys need to venture out and try something else that isn't advertised on TV (excluding Sam Adams, for the most part).
Yeah, I don't want to drink something just to get tanked, I want to drink it because it's its own thing and/or complements my meal, and I already know the mass-market stuff won't do that. Was partly why I asked, since most beer drinkers tend to lump sam adams in with the other mass market junk and so I figured I wasn't getting a fair try at something that's actually a good representative for the real thing.
Cool, thanks

drink my beer bitch!
You, my friend, win a prize. Allagash is fantastic. They have another brew which unfortunately looks like the White but isn't, and is not so good. But the Allagash White is pretty much amazing.
And I have to break from what seems to be the trend here.... Stella Artois is freakin horrible beer. I expect a lot of backlash for that, but seriously... I have yet to meet a person around here who like Stella. And that includes people who I consider to have a decent grasp on what constitutes a good brew.
Other than that... Blue Moon, theres an Irish Red from a local brewhouse near me that is awesome, and Ive had this a few times and remember is being great. (Mostly the Backdraft Ale, despite the name.)

Check out that website. It's one of the most comprehensive beer sites that I've ever come across. There is a link on that page that will give you some beer-food groupings as well as a shit-ton of additional information.
I wouldn't group Sam Adams with either the macro or micro breweries, it really is somewhere in between. It has large distribution like a macro, but low"ish" market share (I think I read somewhere that it's only like 2-3% of the beer market) and a large variety of styles and seasonals like a micro. It is more of a hybrid that tries to take the best of both sides of the coin but doesn't necessarily excel at either being huge like a macro or focusing on creating the craftsmanship that some micros are able to accomplish. Was partly why I asked, since most beer drinkers tend to lump sam adams in with the other mass market junk and so I figured I wasn't getting a fair try at something that's actually a good representative for the real thing.
My first taste was a Sam Adams white ale, and I had the same thought. I'm still a total beer noob (grew up Mormon, had my first beer a little over a year ago at 28 yrs old lol), but here's how it went for me:
Shortly after the Sam Adams, spent the weekend in Vegas with some friends. Had a Stella and it was much more tolerable, followed by a Blue Moon. Still an acquired taste, but after a few of those they went from tolerable to enjoyable. So they seemed to be good for a beginner.
My usual beers now are Blue Moon, Stella, Pinkus hefe-weizen (haven't had this one in a while, need to go out this weekend) and local micro-brews: Golden Spike (hefe), Cut Throat (pale ale), and Emigration Amber Ale.
I've only tried a couple dark beers, but they had a burnt taste to me so I haven't found one I like yet.
This is from a Utahn though, so I'm sure our selection pales in comparison to others.
