Picked this up the other day since it looked fun and it hasn't disappointed. The controls are easy to get used to and the only real complaint I've had so far is with the camera at times where I would want a wider view. Other than that the game has been great.
I just picked up the XL with a few games two days ago. Paper Mario is "ok" it isn't as good as Thousand Year Door. I didn't get very far but I dislike the sticker system and there are no partners either.
Love the mystery dungeon series, I would like to get that and Bravely Default (if its ever brought over here :/)
Hate to say it but i knew this would happen >.<... Here i was hoping you'd actually enjoy it and give some redeeming qualities. If its okay, Think I'm passing on it... If they're going to make a Paper Mario, make what people loved about it... Partners, Story, RPG Elements, fun... etc!
Haven't played any of the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon titles, Might pick this one up to see it.
SO because one guy said it was "ok" it means dont get it? lol
Read again he bummed at it cuz theres no partner no lvs and stuff like that
Not because Draylo said it's ok
No, The reviews, 2 Gameplay Videos, Detailed Gameplay description, lack of partners, no leveling, and now an opinion from a Paper Mario fan means I won't get it.
But uh... I guess I didn't mention that so I can't blame you for wanting to jump in on sounding confused, Just figured he'd know what i was saying because we had this discussion before, before the game was released we discussed it (In this thread i think), So I didn't think to clarify. Super sorry =x
Yeah it's missing some good RPG elements thousand year door had :/ really upsetting tbh. The sticker system is so silly too, why can't I just do the fights like in the past instead of unpeeling a damn sticker every 5 steps just to have to ration or use it in battle.
I'm actually in total disagreement with you on Paper Mario. The ration and usage of stickers adds a subtle level of challenge and complexity to getting through every area, especially as you get later in the game. I don't agree with reviews about anything being "too obtuse" either, if you honestly can't figure out some of the puzzles via contextual clues when you pick up things, that's kind of on the player.
Yeah, they stripped out some of the more hardcore, roll d20 RPG elements from the game, and partners being out is kind of a drag, but I'm enjoying the hell out of Sticker Star.
I'm not the kind to follow reviews for buying shit but if what IGN says is right then it can be a bitch
They said that sometimes you can miss storyline stickers without knowing it, and having to come back a fking long way to be able to go back to where it was (depending the sticker)
How is a basic exp leveling system... Hardcore/RollD20 RPG element ⌐ ⌐? Make it seem so ... bad.
I always thought of Paper Mario, well, 1 and the Thousand year door, as successors to Super Mario RPG, They did have Super Paper Mario at one point, and now this, Just feels its falling from RPG Elements, Which to some is fine but to others its losing appeal.
The game in itself is probably entertaining for what it is, Its just not wanted I wanted from it. Not saying its bad, Just not a game thats up my alley anymore, as many of the elements i personally enjoyed about Paper Mario have been removed.
Thinking of getting a 3DS this black friday. What are peoples thoughts on the XL version? I was thinking of getting the XL, but depends a bit on what kind of sales I can find and stuff. I'll probably dig through earlier pages when I get back from work today, but figured no harm asking since there's likely other people in a similar situation w/ the holiday sales coming up.
Dépends on you but for me thé habdling is si good that I won't go back to normal one
Buy an XL. They shouldn't even sell the originals anymore, the difference in battery life alone is worth the purchase.
Also
I figured just by the wording it'd come across that that comment was an exaggeration for the sake of making a point, but that's all it was. The more traditional RPG elements being stripped don't really take anything away, and I've played every Mario RPG from SMRPG onwards.
Get the XL for sure, and I was very let down by Paper Mario.
I might sell it because it has zero replay value. Its ok for the first 5-10 hours, then it just drags and the flaws in the game really start to take a toll on you. Well, for me anyways.
Fuck the XL, it's too big.
Your just too small
