Got into my car this morning and had a very high pitched whine after I started moving. Pulled back into the driveway and it continued, even when idle. Stopped by the time I got into work, guessing because the car warmed up.

Thinking it is a pulley that is about to go, but was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience. It's almost like the turbo spooling up really high, but it happens when idle so it shouldn't be exhaust/turbo. It's almost a more noticeable, higher-pitched sound than the turbo. Considering it stopped by the time I got into work I'd blame it on the engine being cold, but it was 47 or so this morning which is not cold enough for this shit to start happening. What's going to happen when it's actually fucking cold?

It was coming from the engine compartment, when I popped the hood I was drawn towards the alternator area.

Just picked this guy up today after shopping the shit out of it in a ~75mile radius of DC; 2017 Jeep GC Limited 75th Anniversary Ed with 20" wheels and some other jazz. Have owned a stick shift Wrangler (96 Sahara, and 2008 Sahara) for about eight years each. Going to miss the last one in particular; lasted through half a dozen girlfriends, an 8,000 mile trip around the country, etc. Feels so odd to drive without a clutch right now.

Is nobody getting new cars? Last post was 2016?

As my wife said, traded in my fun car for a Dadmobile. 2014 WRX had 101k miles on it, and it sounded like a gasket was leaking when accelerating, so we traded it in before shit got worse. Had just come off warranty last weekend when I hit 100k.

Got the Forester Premium 2.5i (not the XT unfortunately). Fairly happy with it. Much less road noise than my WRX, higher clearance which is great for the snow we get and the work sites I drive to, much more room in general for the kid on the way, cargo, plus two dogs. Still, it's bittersweet.

Also, I mowed my lawn Sunday. Don't judge me BG. Between the rain we were getting and doing family stuff and car shopping I didn't have time.

Crosspost from fuck yeah thread. Just picked this up last Friday. It's my first REALLY nice car. 2018 Challenger GT.



I live in NY and I can't afford 2 cars, so I went with a functional AWD with the aesthetic of a Challenger. It's a V6 and will suit me just fine. Buddy of mine is going to do a few things to it to get it's power up a bit. I'm in love tho and I really enjoy driving it. Aside from, y'know the gas it eats.

My dad wanted a project car/daily driver, so i decided to give it to him if he took me to the dealership in february of this year. Walked out that same day with a 2015 Focus ST:

Slapped some Michelin Pilot Super sports on her, and they are amazingly grippy. Cold air intake as well, and catback, need to get me a downpipe now. I also deleted the sound symposer which gives that fake sound since the interior is quiet. I dislike that newer cars today have fake exhaust sounds.
